Cavan Singers perform Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria

Cavan Singers perform a programme of sacred music culminating in Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria (R589) on Thursday, 7th May 2015 at 8p.m. in the Cathedral of SS. Patrick and Felin, Cavan.

 

The Choir is conducted by Paul Flynn. Cavan Singers are performing this event as an outreach project to the secondary schools in the area: Breifne, Loreto and St Patrick's Colleges, and the Royal School.

 

Tickets are available at Cavan Gifts, Main St, Cavan and are €10.

Loughan House will host a Poetry Day Workshop with Dowra based writer Bee Smith.  Bee will facilitate a poetry workshop for residents of Loughan House Low Security Prison in the Education Centre on Poetry Day Ireland, 7th May.

Landscape and Memory International Artist Exhibtion
Curated by Marilyn Gaffney

Johnston Central Library Gallery Space is hosting an exhibition titled ‘Landscape and Memory’ curated by visual artist Marilyn Gaffney. The exhibition comprises of 22 international artists work.

The exhibition opened last Thursday 23 April.  A Skype presentation took place with a selection of the international artists Marta Miranda (Argentina), Dawidek Gryglicka (Poland), Nikolaos Lamprinos (Greece) and Vera L.P. Cauwenberghs (Belgium) where they spoke about the project and the work they have on display for the exhibition. Marilyn Gaffney read text translated from Spanish to English on the project by Marta Miranda Argentinian writer.

Windows Weekend 9 and 10 May

Windows Weekend in association with Cavan Art and Cavan Crystal Hotel takes place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May 2015.

Enjoy a workshop for young poets with Heather Brett and a workhsop with Noel Monahan for Adults as well as results of the National Poetry Competition, readings from Tony Curtis and a performance by Cavan County Choir.

Developing Creative Practice Across Borders An exhibition bringing together a collection of work from artists who participated on Developing Creative Practice Across Borders will take place at Cavan Townhall and 61 College St, from 15 to 22 May and at Bailieborough Library from 28 May to 26 June.
