Welcome to the first Nonsuch Island Expeditions Newsletter! 
LookBermuda | LookFilms has been documenting the activities on Nonsuch Island for the past decade, ramping up over the past few years for the first phase of The Nonsuch Island Expeditions.
These include our ongoing Biodiversity Photography Expeditions and for the third year in a row: streaming live video from one of the underground Cahow nesting burrows with our award winning CahowCam; which this spring for the first time ever filmed a Cahow chick hatching!

Meet "Rainbow" the 2015 CahowCam Chick
Star of the 2015 CahowCam LiveStream which hatched live on camera and was subsequently named "Rainbow" by our Junior Explorer Sophie. This chick follows "Backson" from 2013 and "Lightning" from 2014.

Cahow Chick Filmed Hatching
We are now in our third season streaming live video from one of the underground Cahow burrows on Nonsuch Island using our award winning CahowCam which captured a chick hatching on March 4th for the very first time! Watch Chick Hatching
The Nonsuch Island Expeditions: Phase 1
Three separate  photography expeditions were conducted in 2014 with National Geographic photographer David Liittschwager and LookBermuda's Jean-Pierre Rouja producing 180+ images for our Biodiversity image library in the first phase of this very exciting project.

Blue Turtle Award
Mr. Jeremy Madeiros, Senior Terrestrial Conservation Officer with the Department of Conservation Services, has been awarded the prestigious Blue Turtle Award (2013) for the Cahow Translocation Project. 
Launched in 2009 The Blue Turtle Award is an annual award given by the UK’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) for nature conservation work undertaken by an individual or group of individuals, from an Overseas Territory or Crown Dependency, who have made a valuable contribution to nature conservation in their Territory or Dependency. The work or project must be long term, demonstrate innovation and have made a “real difference”.

Hurricanes Fay and Gonzalo
This past November the island bore the brunt of back to back hurricanes heavily impacting the vegetation including several old growth cedars.
