Join this session as Lavina Chong aims to pair both the creative arts (music and movement) with children’s literature. Participants will have opportunities to unwrap and explore children’s literature through creative music and movement activities.

A number of studies have suggested that boys enjoy reading less than girls. In this session, Dr George Jacobs from James Cook University Singapore, together with Raymond Ang, a social work coordinator, will explore the reasons for this reading gap between boys and girls, and suggest ideas parents/teachers can employ to motivate boys to read more.

Last Saturday, approximately 50 guests signed up for Twilight Tales, a new literary arts initiative organised by NBDCS.
The session featured guest writer Suchen Christine Lim, recipient of the S.E.A Write Award in 2012. Her novel, Fistful of Colours, was awarded the Singapore Literature Prize in 1992.
During Twilight Tales, she gave an animated reading of her works, and guests, who included writers/authors, reading enthusiasts and members of the public, were invited to ask her questions.
Held and hosted by friends in their homes, each Twilight Tales session will feature well-known writers and/or story-weavers.
