Keynote Speaker Announcement
Shark Tank Australia's Steve Baxter will be beaming in live for the opening keynote to share his insights into what makes or breaks fledgling startups in Regional Australia!

Tech start-up multi-millionaire Steve Baxter is a proud Queenslander, born in the remote town of Cloncurry and raised in Emerald in the State’s central highlands. He understands what it's like to live and build a business in an outback agriculture and mining town.

Steve is an active supporter of Australia’s and Queensland’s startup eco-system, as a founding board member of advocacy group StartupAUS, the founder of Brisbane co-working community River City Labs, and the mission leader for Startup Catalyst.

Most recently, Steve has joined Shark Tank Australia as one of the 5 "Shark" investors.

Tracey Beikoff
The Original Rescue Swag
Tracey is a proud Mareeba local and recent survivor of Channel 10’s entrepreneur show Shark Tank. Dubbed ‘pitch perfect’, Tracey floored the Sharks during her presentation and walked away with a new mentor and $220k in her pocket to grow her Rescue Swag business.

Tracey will share her tips on the perfect 5 minute pitch.
Alistair Hart
Mangoesmapping
Alistair first explored his entrepreneurial roots as an 8 year old and today he manages his own company. Alistair is intrigued by transformative innovation, disruptive business models and all the opportunities offered in this digital era.


Alistair will share his tips on the customer validation and determining market demand.
Donna Patane
MacDonnells Law
Donna practices corporate and commercial law at MacDonnells Law. Her practice involves advising clients on a wide range of matters but she is especially interested in supporting startups and entrepreneurs on their journey to commercialisation.

Donna will talk about how to build a company legally.
Troy Haines
theSpace Cairns
Troy is the founder of theSPACE, a Startup & Innovation hub which brings together budding entrepreneurs and innovators and connects them to skills and resources. theSPACE is based in Cairns and features a Coworking space, meeting rooms, coaching/mentoring and capital raising.
 
The founder of four entrepreneurial startups and one successful exit, Troy coaches entrepreneurs and innovators throughout the commercialisation process from idea screening to growth and exiting.

Troy will share the secret to successfully creating a minimal viable product (MVP).
Mentors & Coaches
As a Startup Weekend participant, you'll have access to a great line up of mentors and coaches to work with you during the 54 hour landslide event.

The Judge's Decision is Final
Taking what you've learnt over the course of the weekend, each team will get the chance to pitch their startup idea to a panel of judges on Sunday evening.
