COMMENT

We have just come back from the Falkland Islands and found the records for several Irish people mostly military personnel who migrated from the UK to the Islands in 1849. Known as the Chelsea Pensioners even though they were only in their forties they were drafted there for garrison and police duties. We will be producing a CD on our findings later in the year.
If you would like to follow in our footsteps do watch BBC’s Island Parish Falklands a six part series on Thursday evenings. Episode 1 was on March 27.
