Theme: Art Journaling
We asked our team to make a page using the same prompt we will be using at our Art Journaling Chat tonight: "Something I Love About Myself." We also asked them to try out some different styles to show you that there is a huge variation in style and design with art journaling that ties back to how each person interprets the prompt.

"For me, art journaling is about freedom from the rules wrapped around traditional scrapbooking. It’s about expressing just who I am at that moment in time. I love taking inspiration from mixed media art journals, and I secretly wish I could draw and use paint in the same way. (I’m so hopeless it’s unbelievable!) But digital art journaling to the rescue!

|
Our talented designers have created all the artsy papers, brushes, and clipping masks you could wish for, so you and I don’t have to worry about our lack of art skills. All we have to do is take those amazing products and throw them at the page in whatever way we feel inclined! The bulk of my page uses one of Emily Abramson’s wonderful papers from Mixed Up Paper 1 and repeated use of her brushes (from Brush Set: Mixed Up 1 Biggie) “stamped” randomly across my page. So go on – use those artsy products and get messy with your art journaling – you may just find you enjoy it!" - Anna

"Talking about things I love about me is so very out of my comfort zone, so I enlisted my sisters to help me. It’s a good idea to get someone to help with journaling if you are unsure of what to write. I love being grungy and artsy on my art journaling pages, so to do this layout, I went out of my comfort zone. First, I chose a color palette, and once that was done, things just fell into place!"

"Following the principles I outlined in my tutorial (Taking the Mystery out of Art Journaling), I tried to create a page I could make if I were using more traditional paper scrapbooking methods – papers, stamps, ink, etc. I love using a lot of word art, so for this page, I chose an alpha that looked like a stamped effect, then supported it with some journaling and a few more stamped pieces. I love type and newspaper, so I selected this newspaper for my page – it gives a more crafty and hands-on look, while still being a very simple page. If you look carefully, you will see I have only used newsprint, paint, and paper pieces to create this layout!" - Jody

There are some big happenings at Scrap Girls this week. On Thursday April 16, we will be moving the Scrap Girls Boutique to a new software platform. As you know, our current store holds 10 years of data -- and not all of it is going to be moved over. Here are a few things you might want to do to get ready for the big move:
|
|
- Download all purchases you make before April 16. Your unexpired download links from the old store will need to be re-set for you in the new store. To make it easier, download everything you purchased from the old store before the move.
- Make a copy of your Wish List. Unfortunately your Wish List will not transfer over, so if this info is dear to you please copy the links for the products you like onto your computer so you can recreate your wishlist in the new store.
|
- If you are a long-time customer of Scrap Girls, copy and save all of your old purchase history if this is important to you. Any kits you've purchased in the past that have since been retired will not show up in your order history after April 16. On the upside, the new store will warn you before you try to purchase something you already have!
We can't wait to show you all the bells and whistles in our new store! Stay tuned for our Grand Opening Party!
