Eat Panda Express, support Anders

Anders (the Honors floor in Barton Hall) is having a fundraiser this Thursday, April 16 from 10:30-6:30 at Panda Express. Go enjoy the green bean chicken and crab rangoons WHILE supporting fellow Honors students.
To help Anders reach their goal, you must present a flyer when you purchase your food, and Anders will have people handing out flyers on the main floor of the MU near the stairs that lead to the cafeteria, or you can pull up this link on your phone: http://www.pandaexpress.com/fundraiser/Flyer?guid=c3416ec1-eb33-4f78-b9ad-15749a5324f9

Meeting on the "What, When, Why, & How of Nationally-Competitive Scholarships"

Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater -- these names belong to a handful of foundations that award the nation’s most prestigious and selective scholarships.  Among these awards, opportunities exist for students at all levels, for both undergraduate and post-baccalaureate study, in a broad range of disciplines.  These scholarships recognize students of exceptional merit who have established outstanding records of accomplishment in and out of the classroom – records that are the result of effort, talent, initiative and planning.

These programs are directed at first- and second-year students, though all are welcome.  The informational meetings will be held from 4:10 – 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, and from 12:10 – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24 .  Both meetings will be held in 1151 Jischke.

Students unable to attend the meeting can learn more about these scholarships at http://www.honors.iastate.edu/scholarships/aboutScholarships.php.

The Spring Honors Poster Presentation is coming up!
  • Wondering what an Honors project looks like in poster form?
  • Concerned that your idea for your Honors project is too "out there"?
  • Do you want to see what your old FHP leader did for their Honors project?
  • Is your roommate forcing you to attend the poster presentation so they'll have someone to talk to when they're presenting?
  • Wondering what on earth [insert your major here] majors do for an Honors project?
  • Want to gorge yourself on ISU catering brownies?
If you answered YES to any one of those questions, mark your calendar for the Honors poster presentation from 3:00-5:00pm in the MU Great Hall on Wednesday, April 29.  Stop in between classes to support your friends, learn about others' research, see what Honors projects are like, and enjoy some refreshments.

Calling all 2014-15 FHP students and leaders!

The Honors Student Board's First-Year Honors Program Committee is happy to announce our inaugural FHP Reunion, an event organized to help first-year seminar groups get back in touch before the end of the year. On the afternoon of Sunday, April 26th from 3 to 6 o'clock we will be hosting an informal picnic on central campus complete with pizza and drinks, events like ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and kickball, as well as a host of other fun activities. The event is absolutely optional and you are all welcome to come and go as you please.

If you would like to participate in the event we ask that you take a quick moment to RSVP using the link available here by Monday, April 20th at midnight. This will give us an idea of how much food to order for the event. We look forward to seeing you there!
