MEDSINC Field Testing in Bangladesh
This is our second monthly THINKmd newsletter. You are receiving this because you expressed interest in MEDSINC, THINKmd’s product, which transforms mobile devices into a self-training, frontline pediatric point-of-care system that will assist community health workers to determine how sick a child is and generate therapeutic recommendations.

Successful Tests in Two Field Clinics
Our initial MEDSINC field-based Beta/agile development testing in Bangladesh was done at two clinics in the Mirpur region of Dhaka. This work was done in collaboration with amazing pediatric clinical teams from the icddr,b (International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research).
The field tests went well on a number of fronts. We received enthusiastic responses from icddr,b faculty, physicians, staff and community healthcare workers. Community health workers independently demonstrated the ability to use MESICNC to clinically assess children under five years old presenting to the clinic.
Valuable Process and Product Feedback
As anticipated, some community health workers experienced challenges in collecting accurate physical exam findings, however with a little training, they were able to capture accurate data. Additionally, the health workers identified areas in MEDSINC’s user interface that were somewhat difficult to understand and also supplied us with several extremely helpful suggestions for improvements.
We are currently implementing changes based on the invaluable feedback from our Bangladesh field tests. The icddr,b has expressed high interest in participating in future testing as well as clinical studies once we are ready to implement MEDSINC. Physicians, nurses, and community health workers were extremely excited about MEDSINC, expressing their interest in “implementing it as soon as possible.” We are increasingly confident that MEDSINC can provide community health workers with the ability to independently clinically assess children under 5 years of age in a way that will correlate with trained physicians.
Our near-term goal for MEDSINC is to continue with field-testing at several different locations. We are currently finalizing plans with key collaborators in Central and South America, where we hope to conduct MEDSINC field tests soon.
Recognition and Investment
We are also excited to announce that THINKmd has been selected as a finalist for the LaunchVT business pitch competition, taking place on May 7. The first prize for LaunchVT is $30,000 in cash and $45,000 of in-kind support.
On the investment front, we have now finalized paperwork for THINKmd’s $250,000 convertible debt round. Commitments have already been received for almost half of the amount. We hope to complete funding of this offering within the next couple months. The funds will be used to pay for the completion of the initial MEDSINC (MVP) product and Beta testing, as well as business development and grant submissions.
Thank you for your continued interest in THINKmd and MEDSINC.
Best Regards,
Barry and the THINKmd team
