As the IFR grows, so are the number of papers delivered by our field school directors and board members. At the forthcoming Society for American Archaeology annual meeting (San Francisco, April 15-19), over 38 papers and posters will be delivered based on work supported by the IFR and our field school students. You can view the list of these presentations on our website.
In addition to these papers, a joint IFR-SAA committee will award the best paper and best poster awards to two undergraduate students that presented at this forthcoming SAA meeting. Each award is for $1,000 and designed to encourage undergraduate research in archaeology. Click here for more details about this award.
The SAA-IFR Historically Underrepresented Groups Scholarship (HUGS) has been awarded to Sameen Mansoor from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sameen will attend our Tunisia-Zita field school and the scholarship will cover the full tuition and all travel costs. The award will be announced at the SAA awards ceremony and we are excited for Sameen to be the inaugural recipient of this scholarship.
We are looking forward to an exciting SAA meeting. With over 39 field schools offered, the IFR is expanding its support for archaeology. As we grow, so must our research output.
Sincerely,
Ran Boytner, Ph.D.
