Congratulations to SAMCEDA Board Member, Bill Graham

SAN FRANCISCO (April 8, 2015) – Dignity Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Graham as President of Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital, located in Redwood City, effective immediately. Graham has been Vice President of Physician and Business Development for Sequoia Hospital since 2001 and Chief Strategy Officer for the Bay Area Service Area since 2011. He is a dynamic and well respected leader who has played a key role in building Sequoia Hospital’s presence as a regional care center and, at the same time, led the development of growth, brand, and marketing strategies for the Bay Area Service Area.

Graham’s contributions at Sequoia span the entire breadth of the hospital’s services, from securing dedicated funding and infrastructure for the Heart and Vascular Institute, to leading the development of a cardiovascular co-management program aligning three distinct physician groups, to helping secure $35 million in funding to renovate and expand the Birth Center, to co-leading the effort to secure $15 million in funding to reopen a closed perioperative suite.

As VP of physician development, he has expanded the Dignity Health Medical Foundation to include Sequoia, catalyzed the creation of the Sequoia Physicians Network (IPA) aligning more than 200 affiliated physicians and, with physician leaders, co-led development of a clinically integrated physician network supporting an innovative managed care strategy.

Graham is known for his excellent grasp of the Bay Area healthcare market, his ability to engage and collaborate with physicians around Sequoia’s business strategy and his open and accessible leadership style. He replaces Glenna Vaskelis, who served as president of Sequoia Hospital for 19 years and retired at the end of March.

“I’m grateful to have the opportunity to lead Sequoia in this time of possibility and growth for the hospital,” Graham said. “Our new Pavilion is offering state-of-the-art care, we’ve increased our capacity and capabilities as a surgical referral center, and we have a new affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic for cardiovascular care. We’re intent on increasing our strength, reputation, and presence as a regional care center. Above all, I know the excellence, dedication and compassion of Sequoia’s physicians, nurses, staff, and volunteers; it will be a great privilege to continue to work with them in this new role.”
