Welcome to the April 2015 edition of the Central Commissioning Facility (CCF) monthly e-newsletter.

Keeping you updated with the latest news and events from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
New Twitter account
Here at the NIHR Central Commissioning Facility we have just launched a new Twitter account, ‘Talk health research’ @NIHR_CCF.

We’ll be using the feed to complement @OfficialNIHR. We can share your scientific news and events and can feature photos and footage of research being undertaken at your facilities and anything else that shows NIHR at work.

With your contributions we’d like to make @NIHR_CCF a reflective and conversational community-facing account. Please follow us and retweet anything of interest and we’ll do the same. Send material to comms@nihr-ccf.org.uk

Please note that during the pre-election period @NIHR_CCF will be quieter than usual but we'll be back to normal soon.
Ok to ask 2015
The NIHR is marking International Clinical Trials Day (ICTD) on 20 May for the third year running. The ‘Ok to ask’ campaign calls on patients and carers to ask their doctor about NHS research they can take part in.

What’s happening this year?
The 2015 NIHR campaign begins on 13 April and will include:

• The “Breakfast Trial” - a mock live trial designed to reflect the key elements of a clinical research study. We’ll be asking the clinical research community and wider public to get involved.

• a set of promotional materials including leaflets, badges, stickers and foam hands which are available to order now

• widespread social media activity on Facebook and Twitter in the build-up to International Clinical Trials Day through the NIHR Twitter and OK to ask Facebook page

• OK to ask hour - opportunities to ask key members of the clinical research community anything you like about clinical research

Get involved and keep up to date with the latest news and information via the Ok to ask web page or viaTwitter using any of the following hashtags #oktoask #BreakfastTrial #oktoaskhour
