Come celebrate the beginning of East Atlanta Village Farmers Market's 10th season tomorrow! We are so grateful for this community, and all of the support we've had in the past. Stop by to pick up your groceries, visit old friends and talk to us about the exciting projects we're working on this season. Hope to see you there! We've got a few special events going on tomorrow. Read below for details.
EAV Farmers Market is open rain or shine every Thursday from 4 to 8pm
SNAP Enrollment at Market
Community Farmers Markets partners with Wholesome Wave Georgia to double the value of every SNAP/EBT dollar spent at market. This means that $1 of SNAP is actually worth $2 at our markets! This Thursday, April 16th, Wholesome Wave Georgia will be at the EAV Farmers Market to answer any questions about SNAP and to enroll candidates. If you've ever wondered about whether you're eligible for food assistance, now's your chance to speak with someone who can answer your questions directly!
The Lexicon of Sustainability
Based within the mission of connecting people to place and promoting sustainable living, the Lexicon of Sustainability is an impressive organization, and we are excited to have them join us at market tomorrow! Their engaging media aims to help people understand sustainable terms and principles that will define the future economy. Watch
this amazing video to learn more and be sure to visit them tomorrow!
"We badly need ways to communicate the urgency of the greatest crisis humans have yet encountered. Climate change happens just slowly enough that can slip by our defenses, unless we are able to harness (as this project so powerfully does) the depth of human creativity to slam the message home."
Join us for s
easonal hands-on cooking with Chef Philip Meeker! For the duration of the market Chef Meeker will cook up local, seasonal food from the market. Don't know what to do with stinging nettles or kohlrabi? This hands-on booth is a great place to ask questions about seasonal produce. Chef Meeker is one of the best chefs in the south. Formerly of Kimball Hall House -- named Best Restaurant in the US by Esquire Magazine -- and EAV's own Holy Taco, he now runs his own business, Bright Seed, through which he teaches cooking classes, garden planning and creates customized menus to eat at home. Stop by to learn tricks of the trade or have your seasonal food questions answered!
Token Announcement
All vendors will now accept Debit/Credit Cards directly at their booth! This means that we will no longer be offering the Green $5 debit/credit tokens at the information booth. All vendors will still accept the green tokens through the end of the 2015 market season. Please plan to spend them soon!
Please still visit the information booth for My Market Club sign up, SNAP transactions, gift certificates, and information on the market, vendors, and general happenings in the world of Community Farmers Markets.
As of April 15th all vendors accept: Cash, Debit/Credit, SNAP tokens, My Market Club tokens.
From Gravel Lot to Community Park
The EAV Farmers Market is working to transform a gravel lot into a beautiful community park. During the first weeks of market you will see the space incorporate new features and
become a beautiful and safe space for neighbors to use throughout the week!
We need your support
We are raising funds to add greenery, garden features and space for community gardening and cooking classes. Each dollar donated will be matched by a generous anonymous donor. Every dollar counts, and a little help goes a long way, Please spread the word and help us build a safe space to spend time with friends and family and learn new skills.
Did you know that you can use SNAP benefits to buy seedings and plant starts?
Any food producing plant can be purchased with SNAP benefits! This includes seedlings, plant starts and potted herbs available at the market. Look for Love is Love Farm at this week's market for seedlings.
