Dear Friends,

After 17 years, the landmark legal battle to hold oil giant Chevron accountable for environmental devastation in Ecuador is nearing an end. But with a potential multi-billion dollar judgment looming over the company, Chevron is waging a scorched-earth campaign to evade accountability.

Chevron has admitted it expects an adverse judgment from the courts in Ecuador, which isn't surprising when you see the evidence yourself (watch the video!).

You can help us to counter the company's lies and dirty tactics, by spreading the truth about Chevron's legacy in Ecuador – start by sharing this brief video far and wide.

Yet, as thousands of men, women, and children continue to suffer an epidemic of oil-related cancers, birth defects, miscarriages, and other ailments, Chevron is engaging in increasingly abusive tactics to deceive the world about its toxic legacy in Ecuador, while attacking the more than 30,000 people demanding justice.

Chevron, along with its lawyers, lobbyists, and PR spin-masters, have shown that they will stoop to shocking depths to avoid doing the right thing. To explain Chevron's desperation, experts point out that the oil industry is alarmed at the historic precedent this case could set for holding corporate polluters and human rights abusers accountable. Which is exactly why it's so important!

Help us change the polluting industry forever.
Start by telling your friends about Chevron's legacy in Ecuador.

Chevron's PR mercenaries have been successful lately at diverting media attention from the real issues – maybe you've seen a couple of the recent hit pieces they've orchestrated in the mainstream press. And the company's lawyers have also managed to delay a verdict in the landmark trial. But analysts believe a ruling from the Ecuadorian courts will likely come in a matter of months, fueling the company's recent aggressive maneuvering, from abusing the judicial process in Ecuador to undermining the First Amendment in the U.S.

Amazon Watch and our allies are working to build the grassroots people power network to let Chevron know we won't be bowed by its tactics or fooled by its lies. We demand Chevron pay up for a clean up!

In our struggle for justice in Ecuador, one key battleground is the court of public opinion – independent media, blogs, social networks, and word-of-mouth. Help us win this battle by taking to the web (or your kitchen table) to share the truth about Chevron's legacy in Ecuador.

Help us build the people power to demand Chevron clean up Ecuador.
Share the truth with five friends.
