Week of Sat. April 11 to Sun. April 12
Starting Saturday May 2, from 9-2 Carmen's will be in the Troy Farmer's Market at Monument Square
AND we will also be open at the Café, 9-4 Saturday & Sunday until further notice.
It's been impossible to plan staffing, equipment, menus until we could
assimilate all the market info, but here's what we have so far:
–we will be open at both places:
9-2 at the Farmer's Market, with some of our specialty foods
9-4 at the Café, with all those specials you have come to know and love
We hope to bring back Friday Nights soon, but we have to get used to the extra shifts first. While we are doing the market, we don't plan to be open weekdays (unless it's a special event) Of course, like all things, this could change.
If you aren't sure, call us for the latest skinny.
Thank you for your patience!
We love you all, and so enjoy cooking for you.
Here's the happenings in Carmensville:

Our neighbor and regular Colie is starting a fresh flower business—
Flower Scout is named for her (boy scout) foraging hat, plus for the way she scouts out rare and wild blooms (as well as the tame ones)
All Over Albany ranks her as one of three finalists for a startup award, to be decided Monday. Go Colie Go!
She'll be sharing a reception with Michael and Renata on April 25, with flowers available from 3-6.

Barista-Sangrista
Carmen might cook the food, but Jim stirs the drinks
Not the bartender's drinks, that's Paula. You know, Bloody Marys and Margaritas and Mimosas and such.
But Jim blends the sangrias, mixes the secret recipe for Jim-Gerale, brews iced tea, and pulls shots for Espressos and Cortados. Truly, he steams milk like no other.
And don't worry— Carmen tastes everything he mixes, and sets him straight if it's wrong ;?)

Former NYC Mayor Bloomberg made the largest-ever private arts funding: $1 million to each of three places, to be spent over two years on temporary art. We have one of them!
Well, we don't have the money— yet! Translport Troy co-chair Barb Nelson is one of twelve finalists contending for three grants, valued at $1 million each.
Barb's idea is to install lights in vacant buildings slated for demolition. The lights slowly go on and off in a breath-like rhythm. The buildings will be scattered throughout Albany, Schenectady and Troy.
Support this project by giving it a big web presence. tweet about it, put it on Facebook and whatever else gets the word out. And stay tuned to see if we win!

Huevos Tostados
Layers of flavor, Perfect savor!
Picture this: a crispy fried tortilla topped with home fries and chorizo or veggie hash, manchego cheese, and a pair of sunnyup eggs, — then some spring greens and avocado. And don't forget the ranchero sauce or the lime crema on top!
And yes, that is a small side of cucumber pico just to set it all off.

Keep your metabolism tuned with a good dose of fresh ginger.
As the song goes, "Jim-Gerale is the taste for you!"
just ask us, we'll sing it.
at length.
