Seeking First:

An update from Mike & Marianne Botting

Growing and Sustaining

The Diocese of Kitgum, our church partner, is the largest Diocese geographically in the country. In our December review meeting with the Diocese, we saw that CHE is growing faster than our little team can handle.

Two solutions were brought out and we've started putting them into practice. First, we are putting more time and effort into training and building up a group of 5 key CHE Trainers to become Facilitators that will assist Rev. Patrick in running trainings.
Secondly, we have now trained area Mission Coordinators in CHE (pictured above). These Mission Coordinators are part of the existing church structure. Though CHE is under their department, many of them do not know what CHE is. The training went on successfully, and we defined their roles together at the training. They have committed to supporting the CHE training teams through discipleship, prayer support, and ongoing monitoring.

Unfortunately, Rev. Patrick was unable to lead the training as he was very sick. He's now symptom-free but doesn't yet have 100% of his strength back. Please keep him in prayer.

An Unexpected Opportunity

In February, Marianne went to meet with the Chaplain at Pader Girls Secondary School (PGSS), where she had been volunteering. "What's the plan for this term?" was the question. She didn't expect the answer. The Chaplain had a chance to continue his studies, and was reluctantly stepping down. His recommendation to the school? Marianne as interim chaplain

Though a stretching opportunity, especially in balancing responsibilities with other work, Marianne is thankful for this chance to build up these young women. She's been meeting weekly with the student leaders to mentor them and build their leadership skills. The girls have also been submitting their questions into a box, which has helped guide topics for preaching and create discussion in fellowship time. Over the last couple weeks, 31 girls came out openly to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. God moved a visiting speaker to purchase Bibles for all these new believers. We thank God for His miraculous work!
