The Sexual-Assault Kit Initiative:
Competitive Grants
The Bureau of Justice Assistance is seeking applications for funding to support national training and technical assistance for jurisdictions that are engaged in comprehensive sexual-assault response reform related to unsubmitted sexual-assault kits. This program furthers the Department’s mission by improving state and local jurisdictions response to violent crime and improving the functioning of the criminal justice system.
Who is Eligible for Grants
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations (including tribal nonprofit or for-profit organizations), faith-based and community organizations, institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education), and consortiums with demonstrated experience providing national and local-level training and technical assistance.
Applicants
The BJA welcomes applications that involve two or more entities; however, one eligible entity must be the applicant and the others must be proposed as sub-recipients. The applicant must be the entity with primary responsibility for administering the funding and managing the entire program. Only one application per lead applicant will be considered; however, sub-recipients may be part of multiple proposals. The BJA may elect to make awards for applications submitted under this solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on the merit of the applications and on the availability of appropriations.
Applicants must register with Grants.gov before they submit an application. All applications are due to be submitted and in receipt of a successful validation message in Grants.gov by 11:59 p.m. eastern time on May 7, 2015.
