We're excited to be back in beautiful Centennial Park for nine events in May and June. We hope you will join us on Saturday, May 9 as we celebrate the start of our Fifth Anniversary Year.

We proudly introduce our Lightning 100 Acoustic Stage performers and our Mix 92.9 Kidsville activities for the Spring 2015 Season.

We have significantly expanded Mix 92.9 Kidsville in 2015. Join us for nine weeks of crafts, Musical Meet & Greets, and fitness activities. Plus, we invite you to join us at "Kidsville at the Parthenon" on the second Saturday of each month.

Join us before Musicians Corner at the Parthenon from 11 to 11:45 AM for storytelling and crafts! Free for all ages.

Folk-Americana Duo Chasing Summer

Enjoy a joyful musical adventure with Chasing Summer, who share music with all ages around the world. Come, grab an instrument and play along, listen to the music, and create your own sunshine masterpiece at the craft table.

Have you been to the Two Old Hippies Open Mic Kids night? Join Matt Walberg, musician and sound tech from Two Old Hippies, for a kid-friendly music exploration.

Global Education Center

Global Education Center will join us to present World Percussion, a journey through world cultures through their rhythms. Explore West Africa, Latin America, Polynesia and more.

with Green Elephant Arts Enrichment

MUSICAL MEET & GREET 12 - 2 PM:
Isam Zaxoiy

Come explore the instruments and musical styles of the Kurdish culture with Isam Zaxoiy. A long-time Nashvillian, Isam is originally from Zakho, Iraq, a community known for it's rich musical heritage.

JUNE 6

KIDSVILLE ACTIVITIES 12 - 5 PM:
Comb Harmonicas
The inside of a harmonica has a part that looks like a comb. We will use real combs to create an instrument that may seem a lot like a harmonica, but is actually a kazoo.

Texture printing with recycled bottle parts and combs.

MUSICAL MEET & GREET 12 - 2 PM:
Shannon "Mr. Bayou" Williford

Award-Winning Musician and Educator Shannon "Mr. Bayou" Williford will lead an exploration of the small but amazing instrument that is the harmonica.

MUSICIANS CORNER AT THE PARTHENON

Homemade Instruments
Instruments are made of tubes, cones, curves, buttons/keys/ knobs, strings, etc. We will create new instrument designs with these basic supplies.

The Nashville Symphony
 
The Nashville Symphony will bring along instruments to explore with your eyes, ears, and hands - which means you get to play them.

Strike up the band and join The Music Class for a fun-filled parent / child play-along celebrating Father's Day! The Music Class is a music education company whose materials are used all over the world.

KIDSVILLE ACTIVITIES 12 - 5 PM:
Make recycled cars with tubes, straws, and your decorations.

MUSICAL MEET & GREET 12 - 2 PM:
Thomas Rose

Come along and explore how fun rhythm and beats can be with percussionist Thomas Rose of the band The Rose Factor and Creative Director of Barefoot Republic Camps. Thomas has an array of percussion instruments from all around the world, and domesticated instruments used to create a Broadway STOMP-styled sound! The instruments? Unique items like 30 gallon drum barrels, street signs, pots and pans, and even car parts. Anyone can feel the beat, if they try!

SUNDAY, JUNE 28

KIDSVILLE ACTIVITIES 12 - 5 PM:
Emoticon Masks to celebrate the end of a very good Musicians Corner season

Using those little yellow happy faces as inspiration, take a plain yellow paper plate and turn it into a face that tells a story about a feeling.

MUSICAL MEET & GREET 12 - 2 PM:
Centennial JamBand Musicians

Centennial JamBand musicians (Kids 8 - 18) will introduce us to their music on instruments like guitar, bass, piano, drums, harmonica or horns - led by Sam Frazee and Shannon Williford of Metro Parks Music Department.

HEALTHY FUTURES SPECIAL GUEST 2:30 - 4:30 PM
Erin Blunt

Local dance educator Erin Blunt provides creative movement exploration for all abilities. Through movement, we will engage with music and be encouraged to think outside of the box!
