SUMMER SCHOOL FOR JOURNALISTS AND MEDIA PRACTITIONERS

"Freedom and Pluralism of Traditional and New Media"

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

The CMPF is happy to announce the call for participants for its annual Summer School for Journalists. Building on its successful experience of previous years, this year’s Summer School will offer the opportunity to up to 30 journalists and media practitioners, mainly from Europe, to learn about the latest academic research, policy, market and professional trends in the area as well as to share their experiences, ideas and points of view.

The Summer School will focus on current journalistic practices and challenges, as well as on media freedom and pluralism challenges from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Particular attention will be paid to methodological challenges and the concrete implementation of the Media Pluralism Monitor across EU Member States.

The Summer School programme is structured around keynote presentations by distinguished experts and follow-up interactive small group discussions, exercises, and Q&A sessions.

Topics include:

  • Freedom of Expression, Pluralism and the Changing Media: Legal Perspectives
  • Media Economy and Pluralism
  • Social and political impact of journalism
  • Reporting Diversity
  • Internet Freedom, Digital Journalism and Geographic Pluralism

Costs:

The CMPF will offer 20 full scholarships.The full scholarship will cover lunches at the EUI canteen during the school days (no weekends), accommodation and travel expenses to/from Florence (reimbursed up to a ceiling of 400 Euro). There will be also non-scholarship places available for self-funded candidates.
