Thanks to all of our volunteers!

National Volunteer Week: April 12 – 18, 2015

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can
change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

— Margaret Mead

Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) was founded in 1964 by a small team of dedicated communication health professionals. Since that time, volunteers have been the backbone of our association, helping SAC achieve its mission to support and advocate for the professions and champion communication health in Canada.

Throughout the past year, our volunteers have proved themselves invaluable. Board Directors, committee members and other volunteers propelled us forward into a new era of governance; reviewed and improved our position papers; supported our clinical certification program; advocated for the professions during our Day on the Hill; helped us run a memorable conference; awarded scholarships to deserving students; and recognized excellence in the professions with SAC's awards.

For National Volunteer Week, we encourage our members and associates to take the time to thank a volunteer for his or her efforts. If you know someone who goes above and beyond to make a real difference in the lives of people with communication disorders — by volunteering for SAC or at your clinic, school or hospital, for example — this week is the perfect time to recognize their contributions to communication health.

Sometimes volunteering can be a lot of work, but at the end of the day,
you are working for your association and your peers. What a fantastic experience!

Whether you know it or not, what you learn as a volunteer will be invaluable.

Every day at SAC, our volunteers give us reason to be proud of who we are and what we can accomplish when we work together. On behalf of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada, thank you to each and every volunteer for your commitment and dedication to this association.
