The 6th graders held their annual Science Fair this week!
6 men stand in a line with the distance between each pair of consecutive men being the same. If the distance between the first and the last man is 10 meters, what is the distance between the first and the fourth man?
Kindergarten: It is good to be back after our Easter Break! We were very excited to see that our caterpillars grew---a lot; and some have moved to the top of the container which means they are ready to spin their chrysalises. We will keep you posted!

Grade 1: This week we worked with r-controlled vowel sounds in words with -or, -ore, and -oar.  We read about different kinds of weather and did some comparing and contrasting.  We also worked with antonyms and synonyms.  In math we worked with calendars and clocks, telling time to the hour and half hour.

Grade 2: We have had a busy week.  We enjoyed listening to the 5th and 6th grade speeches on Tuesday and we got to go to a leadership presentation with Ronald McDonald the same day.  We also enjoyed another presentation about Bees on Friday.  Even with all that was going on we managed to read a story about a Super Croc that lived during the time of the dinosaurs and we worked with number order to 1,000 in Math.

Grade 3: We had a short but busy week.  Tuesday we enjoyed the 5th and 6th grade speech contest and the local McDonald’s sponsored “Everyday Leaders” program.  We learned many interesting things at the 6th grade “Science Fair” on Thursday and at the “Bee” presentation on Friday.  In Math we worked with remainders in division and discussed what the remainders mean.  We finally understand why it is so important to know our multiplication and division facts.  It makes this division much easier and is an important life skill!

Grade 4: This week in math class we are working on learning about properties of algebraic notation and expressions and inequalities. We learned about the Mound Builders in social studies. We learned that they would bury their dead with belongings to honor them, and there are still mound burial sites in St. Paul. We also participated in an Everyday Leader assembly that taught us how to be a good leader.

Grade 5: This week in fifth grade we continued multiplying by decimals. We are now moving on to division strategies. We read a story about National Parks, and the fifth graders began researching a National Park that was interesting to them! We had a busy week with speech contests, science fair, and a presentation on bees.

Grade 6: This week was packed full of events. On Tuesday morning the students that moved on in the speech contest presented their speeches to the school in the gym. All of the 5th and 6th graders did a wonderful job!! On Thursday the 6th graders presented their science fair projects. Many of them were nervous but everyone did a wonderful job and presented very interesting projects. We did manage to move forward with our classroom work also. In math we learned about converting customary and metric units and also worked with time and temperature. In science we assembled some simple machine kits which we really enjoyed. In reading we are continuing to read "Number the Stars".
