U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Announces $500 Million Available for TIGER Grants
Competitive grant program supports innovative transportation projects—often multi-modal, multi-jurisdictional.
The U.S. Department of Transportation is soliciting applications for TIGER Grants.
TIGER 2015 discretionary grants will fund capital investments in surface transportation infrastructure and will be awarded on a competitive basis to projects that will have a significant impact on the nation, a region, or metropolitan area.
The TIGER 2015 grant program will continue to make transformative surface transportation investments by providing significant and measurable improvements over existing conditions. The grant program will focus on capital projects that generate economic development and improve access to reliable, safe, and affordable transportation for disconnected both urban and rural, while emphasizing improved connection to employment, education, services and other opportunities, workforce development, or community revitalization.
Pre-Applications must be submitted by 11:59 EDT on May 4, 2015.
Final Applications must be submitted by 11:59 EDT on June 5, 2015.

U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Announces $76 Million Available for YouthBuild Grants
Grant program helps at-risk youth complete education, develop job and leadership skills.
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of Employment and Training Administration (ETA) is soliciting applications for YouthBuild.
YouthBuild is a community-based alternative education program that provides job training and educational opportunities for at-risk youth ages 16-24. Youth learn construction skills while constructing or rehabilitating affordable housing for low-income or homeless families in their own neighborhoods. Youth split their time between the construction site and the classroom, where they earn their GED or high school diploma, learn to be community leaders, and prepare for college and other postsecondary training opportunities. YouthBuild includes significant support systems, such as a mentoring, follow-up education, employment, and personal counseling services; and participation in community service and civic engagement. There are over 220 DOL funded YouthBuild programs in 43 states serving over 6,000 youth per year.
Under this Funding Opportunity Announcement, DOL will award grants through a competitive process to organizations to oversee the provision of education, occupational skills training, and employment services to disadvantaged youth in their communities while performing meaningful work and service to their communities. In Fiscal Year 2015, individual grants will range from $700,000 to $1.1 million and require an exact 25 percent match from applicants, using sources other than federal funding.
Applications must be submitted by 4:00 pm EDT on June 5, 2015.
