10th Annual Art Walk

Waverly Light and Power is now Waverly Utilities
In addition to being a leading energy services provider, Waverly Utilities is beginning the development of a high-speed fiber-optic network broadband telecommunications system for Waverly. Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority are excited to announce a new program to help business development efforts in Iowa’s Main Street districts around the state!  The OPEN 4 BUSINESS competition is a chance for you to grow your business idea in your local Main Street district. The contest is designed to help provide financial and technical support for businesses that improve Iowa’s Main Street districts. Explore the arts and enjoy some shopping on Saturday, May 2nd during our Art Walk and our Artrageous Shopping event.  Over 35 artists from a tri-state area will display and sell their work during Waverly’s 10th Annual Art Walk.  The event will take place on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Kohlmann Park, located in downtown Waverly. A wide variety of art will be for sale ranging from ceramics, basketry, photography, jewelry, and much more. For a full listing of activities visit the Art Walk web site. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors at W-SR High School.

SAVE THE DATE! The 2015 Chamber Golf Outing Fundraiser will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Prairie Links Golf Club. The annual outing will swing into action with a 1 p.m. shotgun start and consist of 18-holes of golf with on-course games, dinner, and awards. Riverwood Church is new to Waverly as well as a new member of the Chamber.  They hold weekly Worship Gatherings every Sunday at the Waverly Civic Center at 10:00 am and are led by Pastor Aaron and LeAnn Bird. Their purpose is simply stated: to help people follow Jesus – to look, love, and be like Him. Their one year anniversary will be on April 19th at 10:00 am and all are welcome to come and celebrate with them.

In March the Waverly Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors visited Veridian Credit Union, Hy-Vee and State Bank. Veridian is excited to welcome Financial Adviser, Mike Ramker to the Waverly Branch.  Mike is not new to Veridian, but will now be in Waverly on Tuesdays and Thursdays making it convenient for the Waverly market to use his services.  Hy-Vee brought in new store manager, Jason Busswitz who transferred from the Cedar Rapids store. Jason is already getting involved in the community by serving on the United Way board. State Bank has many exciting personnel additions.  Pat Gebel, is the president to the Dike and Janesville markets, and is now the new president to the Waverly market.  Gebel will now be holding office hours at the Waverly branches.  Also new to the team is Angelina Dietz who is an Investment Advisor Representative and Steve Phyfe who is the Senior HR Director and Business Development Officer to the Waverly branches.
