From the President's Boat
The minimum number of ballots was not received to pass the Charter Amendment to expand the voting size of the MI Board by allowing each Chapter a direct voting member representative. Of those received, it was overwhelming in favor of the amendment. It is extremely important for MI’s survival and future that the board be expanded. We hope the Board will take action based on the ballots.
Welcome to all the new members that signed up at the Expo. Thanks to all the volunteers that worked NMMI Booth at Minnesota Muskie Expo. The North Metro Mount winners, Markus Klobe - Junior and Grant Lindberg - Adult were presented with their mounts on stage on Saturday. Unfortunately the Expo turnout was low due to the excellent Spring weather but was still an excellent Show for those that attended.
This month is the NMMI Poolside Lure Demo by Thorne Brothers at the Sheraton West next to Ridgedale. Come out see the hot new lures demonstrated. This will be the last Members meeting until the 3rd Tuesday of next September.
The Muskie fishing season is only weeks away. Prep your boat and get your equipment ready for a great 2015. Make your plans to participate in our League Night and get some youth and new members in your boat to gain those bonus points!
Dennis Lappen of Musky Innovations didn’t disappoint us and gave an excellent entertaining and knowledgeable speaker presentation at April members meeting. Members walked away with a lot of new knowledge. We also thank him for the donated lures for the State High School Tournament.
Mark your calendars for the New North Metro Members Challunge & Picnic to be held Saturday June 27th on White Bear, Bald Eagle and Forest Lakes. Our Members Picnic will follow the fishing contest portion at a central location with secure in sight parking for our boats so that we can all enjoy the fun! Details will be forthcoming in the June newsletter and on the website.
Make plans to participate in and support the Paul Hartman Metro Muskie Tournament on June 13, 2015. This is a great event and all proceeds help Minnesota Muskie stocking.
Think about how you can influence other fisherman this season as a positive role model as a member of the North Metro Chapter and Muskies Inc. through your actions, knowledge and assistance. I challenge you again to get at least one new member signed up or a new youth involved in our sport this year to ensure ours and the Metro Muskie fishery future.

Thank You for all of your help with setup, manning the booth, help presenting our big fish awards and tear-down. We had a good show with more helpers than spots for help. We also signed up about 10 new members at the Expo this year.

Muskies Inc Celebrates 50 Years
Muskies Inc. will be 50 years old in 2016. A 50 year Anniversary Banquet is planned for March 12, 2016 as part of the celebration. Muskies Inc. members from throughout the country are expected to attend.
The 50th Anniversary Banquet will be held in conjunction with the 2016 annual meeting as well as a 3-day scientific symposium on muskellunge.
An event the size of the banquet will take many volunteers to make it happen. Currently there is an oversight committee in place with members from each of the chapters taking part. As plans are developed, they will be asking for help with the planning and for volunteers the day of the event.
Volunteers are needed to help with planning the dinner, sponsorship and donations, games/silent auction/raffles, merchandise sales, media/advertising.

Not Our First Rodeo
Red Wing Lodge & Muskies Inc.
It’s easy to include yourself in a big-time Canadian fishing trip, join an outing that has successfully taken place for years at a base camp that just works great for muskie hunters. For either that first Canadian trip or for an extra trip for the Canadian veteran, Red Wing Lodge on Sabaskong Bay is an amazing destination. Make it happen! Join the 2015 Muskie Inc. Red Wing Lodge Outing. Dates for the coming season: August 8-15, 2015.
Last summer 25 fishermen enjoyed this trip, open to Muskie Inc. Chapter members and their guests. This annual Muskie trip to Red Wing Lodge on Sabaskong Bay, Lake of the Woods, is a great choice for that first Canadian trip or for the veteran’s extra trip. Save your surprises for muskie action, you don’t need them at base camp. Red Wing Lodge offers a resort base that has been family owned and operated for more than 50 years. The Bartlett family has hosted Muskie Inc. outings for years with personal and friendly service, so they understand what muskie people need and like. Red Wing Lodge is a nine-time Chapter Challenge headquarters, in ’83, ’86, ’93, ’97, ’03, ’04, ’11, ’12, and again in 2014. Check out the muskie information, including the Red Wing Lodge Hall of Fame, as well as the first live cam in Morson, at www.redwinglodge.net.
Cost per person in housekeeping cabins will be $350 (US Funds) for 2015, just $50.00 per day for big-time Canadian muskie fishing.
Included in the full value of the 2015 Muskie Inc. trip:
- Free Dockage ($72 value), Free Launch (both ways, $25 value)
- Free Dinner one night, courtesy of the Bartlett’s
- One Free Trip, given away in drawing, courtesy of the Bartlett’s
- Free Wireless Internet Service throughout the Resort
- Free Daily Bag of Ice; door prizes
Reservations require a $50 non-refundable deposit, made out to Red Wing Lodge. Deposits officially confirm reservation holds. First come, first served.
Early deposits are appreciated by the Bartletts, these funds are used to purchase materials for cabin improvements, most of which can only be made over the winter.

Twin Cities Chapter
MAY 12 SPEAKER: BOB BENSON
Bob Benson has been chasing muskies for 35 plus years, much of the last fifteen from his cabin on Lake Vermilion. Bob is a muskie management advocate, has seen changes in the Minnesota fishery, and is adapting to these changes.
Bob last visited Twin Cities chapter in May of 2009. How time flies. Bob is a great speaker - we hope we get a good turnout.
Twin Cities Chapter General Meetings are held at 7:00 pm the second Tuesday of every month at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1114 American Boulevard West, Bloomington, MN (just off I-494 & Lyndale Ave.).
