Navarrete in Princeton, Bell Labs Garden Dedication in Murray Hill, Wordpress Discussion in Montclair and TEDxNavesink at Monmouth University
- Bert Navarrete, cofounder of Tigerlabs, and Jon Cooper, founder of Tigerlabs portfolio company LifeVest Health discussed the N.J. startup ecosystem at the New Jersey Entrepreneurial Network meeting April 8.
- Navarrete urged patience noting that while there is a lot of tech entrepreneurial activity now, there haven't been the big exits to make entrepreneurs rich to prompt a cycle of investment.

- However most tech communities take 15 or 20 years to evolve, and tech startup activity in New Jersey is relatively young.
- Cooper said LifeVest had relocated to Tigerlabs to be closer to digital healthcare customers.
- However, the company has now moved again, this time to Philadelphia, primarily to be closer to talent.

- Marcus Weldon, president of Bell Labs and chief technology officer of its parent company Alcatel-Lucent, spoke about Bell Labs' rich history creating today's and tomorrow's communication technologies.
- Bell Labs researchers also gave attendees a peek into the current future-facing research taking place in New Jersey.
- Projects included "Breaking the Terabit Optical Barrier" and "Removing the Last Wire of Wireless Networks," among others.
Wordpress panelists at Montclair Entrepreneurs Meetup | Esther Surden
- At the Montclair Entrepreneurs Meetup, a keynote speaker and panel gave an in-depth look at Wordpress, which powers 23 percent of the websites on the Internet.
- Panelists discussed their preference for Wordpress and gave hints about which powerful plug-ins audience members should use to make their websites better.
- TEDxNavesink at Monmouth University, with speakers investor Esther Dyson and Donald Katz of Audible among many others, was a resounding success.
- During his talk, Katz noted that he was working on bringing an accelerator and VC fund to Newark.

- The quarterly deadline for Tigerlabs Digital Health Startups cohort is April 15.
- Bell Labs has opened up the application period for the Bell Labs Prize aimed at researchers with "10X game-changing ideas" who want to work with Bell Labs scientists. Last year a Princeton professor won. Deadline is April 17.
- Deadline is April 23 to compete to present at the NJTC Internet of Things Conference May 7. Open to new services/products fewer than two years old that involve sensors, wearables, bots, drones, etc.
- The kickoff event for NJ Tech and Entrepreneurship Week featuring Peopleproductive's Frank Wander will be held April 13.
- Launch NJ Life Sciences Hub is hosting "Intellectual Property for the Aspiring Life Science Entrepreneur," April 13.
- ShorePHP will be discussing the API Toolbox with Tim Lytle of Nexmo, April 13.
- NJTC is holding a meeting at Rowan University called "Growing the Technology Economy in New Jersey" April 14.
- A Juicetank event with Jack and Judy Killion will discuss networking, women and business, April 15.
- NJTC is holding a meeting called "Cloud and Security: Telecom War Stories" at Juniper Networks in Bridgewater, April 15.
- A meeting on "Building a Business on Technology Beyond Patents" will take place April 16 at Gearhart Law.
- Startup Grind Princeton meetup is hosting entrepreneur David Brussin of Monetate, April 16.
- NJTC will host a tech tour of the NIKSUN company April 16, complete with a live cyber attack demonstration.
- Cybersecurity and big data will be the topics at an April 17 meeting at St. Peter's University.
- Tigerlabs is hosting a day-long conference called "Digital Health Innovation in Context 2015," April 23.
- On April 29, the New Jersey Big Data Alliance will hold a symposium called "Big Data and the Transformation of Society."
