Nepal Earthquake: People Around the World Search Online For Loved Ones


There is a state of emergency in Nepal following a massive 7.8 earthquake on April 25. In the aftermath, people around the world are using online tools such as Google Person Finder and Facebook Safety Check to search for loved ones. Many are relying on social media sites to keep updated about what is happening as aftershocks rock Nepal.

Pakistani Activist Sabeen Mahmud Shot Dead


On April 24, Sabeen Mahmud, one of Karachi's most prominent social activists was shot dead after leaving an event called “Unsilencing Balochistan” that her organization The Second Floor had arranged.

Her mother was also injured in the drive-by shooting and is in critical condition.

Thousands of Guatemalans March to Demand Resignations
 

As many as 15,000 mostly urban and middle-class Guatemalans took the streets on April 25 to demand the resignations of President Otto Perez Molina and Vice President Roxana Baldetti, after the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala uncovered a network of tax evasion used by members of the government.
