Feel Good Factor!
The Feel Good Factor is a new two year project giving young people the opportunity to take on a leadership role to develop and shape the direction of the project. The aims are to promote young people to feel good about themselves, where they live, their future and the community they live in.
The project has begun with a series of weekly Monday taster workshops so participants can have a go at many different artforms before deciding which artforms they wish to explore further.
This project is funded by the People's Health Trust and is designed to target specific areas, so participants should be from the streets shown on this page.
If you live on any of the streets listed on our website then either come along to one of the sessions, or for more information contact Hema on 07803 779088.

The Big WELCOME Cafe
This Swadlincote Aspergers Society project, continues to run at our building, The Old Pressing Shop, every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm- 4.30pm. The cafe offers an opportunity for people living with disabilities, their friends and family to access fun, friendly, drop-in creative activities, with tea and biscuits. So far the group have tried their hand at Printmaking, Photography, Film making, Silk Painting and Creative writing, and have ambitions to create a book from material created during the sessions, working alongside professional artists. All activities and refreshments are free of charge. If you would like to be involved or would like more information please phone us on 01283 552962 or email kalila.storey@people-express.org.uk.
The 1914 Love Story
Our First World War commemorative project has seen young participants from the Pingle school in Swadlincote attend a trip to the Staffordshire Regimental Museum and the National Aboretum, aswell as exploring archives from the era at The Magic Attic, in Swadlincote and Derbyshire Records Office. The group also recently took part in several dance sessions and drama sessions. The project culminated with a community event showcasing a short drama written by the group, film screenings of the digital storybooks and and followed by intergenerational dancing from all those who attended.
Hatton Thistley Meadow Community Day
On the 4th May People Express joined the community of Hatton at the Thistley Meadow Community Day, to consult with the community about the Saltbrook Hatton Heritage Trail Sculpture Project in the village. It was a great day with many people coming along to talk to about the project with artist Dennis O'Connor and taking part in mini sculpture building with Bernie Rutter.
Festival of Leisure
Join People Express on the weekend of 27th and 28th June, as we journey down the rabbit hole, celebrating 150 years since the publication of Lewis Carolls Alice in Wonderland. Over the weekend, festival goers will have the opportunity to help us transform our marquee into an enchanted garden, full of tissue paper flowers and woven trees. Participants can then make their own Mad Hatter hat to take away with them. Joining us on the weekend will also be Dr Selwyn Goodacre, an internationally renowned author on everything Alice where he will be sharing his new book, a study of Alice in Wonderland.
Woodville Travels the World
People Express have successfully supported Woodville Infants School in gaining a grant from Awards for All, to develop a programme of culturally diverse artist visits to the school. The artists will work with pupils to help them to develop their own work, which will be showcased throughout the year. The project will launch during the final week of term as part of the schools Creative Learning Week; there will be an artists residence with Chila Burman, where pupils will be developing collages to be exhibited in their school hall.
People Express Board Development
An exciting opportunity for Board development has been made available thanks to funding from Foundation Derbyshire.
