“Jesus died.”
Daniela looked up at me from her game in the grass, eyes wide, her brow wrinkled with seriousness.
“What did you say?” I asked, taken aback at the offhand remark.
“Jesus died." She repeated, adamant. "For EVERYONE."
Understanding dawned on me. This precious two year old wasn't talking about her peer, she was talking about her Savior.
As we shared the story of Christ’s death and resurrection with the kids over Easter, it has been a gift to watch the words of the powerful tale sit with them; to watch them mull it over, and put the pieces together, and allow the significance of that great moment impact their young lives.
Yes, indeed, sweet child. Jesus died for us all.
