Counting the Cost - the PCS theme during their trip

Relevant Ministry was privileged to host Peoria Christian School’s eighth grade mission team for a second year. Our staff was refreshed by the renewed relationships with the PCS leaders; and we were honored to work alongside such a humble and hard working team. The students impacted our staff; and in turn, they were impacted by what God orchestrated throughout the week.

Ben writes, My stay at Relevant Ministry changed my life. It was an experience I will never forget. While I was in Mississippi I helped alongside Relevant Ministry in serving others. We helped out a local church and I helped scrape, sand and paint a cross. We did team building with Mr. Jeff which helped us grow together as a team.

One of my favorite experiences was when we made lunches for Loaves and Fishes, an organization that feeds the homeless. I got to talk to people who came to eat lunch there. This was an amazing thing that happened to me and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone.

When I’m older, I believe God has called me to be a missionary. Seeing how Mr. Brad and Ms. Teresa are missionaries has made me want to be like them. I want to be a missionary by doing acts of service like Relevant Ministry does.

Alexa writes, The time that I had at Relevant Ministry was an awesome experience! I really enjoyed meeting new people and being able to help the people at Kingdom Life Church and those throughout the community. Relevant Ministry did an amazing job at organizing our work trips and taking care of us as a team. I'm very thankful that I had this opportunity to grow in my relationship with Christ and to serve others.

The staff at RM sees God working in the hearts of mission team members as they submit to him. We are grateful to be an organization God uses to transform lives. We desire to provide an environment for more groups to experience the same. What might it look like for you to come and serve with an open heart, receive teaching, and grow in relationship with others? We invite your church, youth, or family to have a missional experience on the Coast.

Can you help RM with its need for a truck?

by Nelson Roth
We're praying for God to supply for a much needed replacement for the current RM Truck.  It was given to us and has been a blessing, however, it desperately needs to be replaced before all the summer serving begins!  "You do not have because you do not ask God." James 4:2  So, we're putting out the 'ask' for this need to be met by Memorial Day.  If you can't do anything extra - we need you to pray.  If you can do something to help us reach a goal of around $7,000 to get a 'newer to us' RM truck your designated special one-time gift will be greatly appreciated.

Recently Andy Schmitt, from Springfield, IL was on the Coast, and he wrote this letter to RM partners about the truck need.  Thank you Andy for your heart and faithful partnership with God's work through Relevant Ministry.  [read Andy's letter]

Our Son the Intern

by Dave and Christie Dunham

Our son approached us a year ago wanting to leave home to participate at Relevant Ministry in a year-long internship.  We were concerned as to whether this was a decision that would benefit him in life. Reluctantly, at first, we moved him to Mississippi in September 2014.  Within hours the staff reassured us he would be in good hands. The staff (led by the hands of the Lord) have trained and nurtured our son Konnor.  He attends leadership classes once a week and has also learned some valuable trade (construction) skills.

We had the privilege of seeing our son in action in March.  Our family, consisting of Konnor’s Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle, two cousins and ourselves participated in a life changing mission’s trip.

We saw our son help lead a group of 8th grade students from Peoria Christian School.  We helped rehabilitate a church and built relationships at a homeless shelter.  Our son showed leadership abilities that we had not seen prior to his commitment to Relevant Ministry. The highlight of our trip was witnessing our son Konnor participate in baptizing his father in the Gulf of Mexico. Words can’t express the pride in seeing the Lord at work through our son.

RM - Training, Building, Serving

by Brad Houchin

One of the things that makes Relevant Ministry so unique is the multiple levels of ministry it provides to churches and families. What is most exciting to us is when a local church gets on board embracing the vision of RM, desiring to be a healthy church.

Recently, a group of students from Peoria Christian School, along with a family group on a Servacation from Central IL, came to partner with RM for their Spring Break. During their week, they were able to partner with some of the physical needs at Kingdom Life Church, by working on several areas of the churches property and building.

A Note from Pastor Daniel of Kingdom Life Church:

Kingdom Life Church would like to say thank you to Relevant Ministry. You have truly been a blessing to our church on many levels. Nelson Roth has worked alongside our leadership team for over a year now; helping with leadership training, teaching, counseling, and encouraging us to continue on the path that God has placed us on as a church. We have many things to say thank you for.

Just recently Relevant Ministry partnered with us by bringing Peoria Christian School to help us with several things around our church and church grounds. They brought a group of students who were very diligent in their work to help us get jobs accomplished that we would not have been able to do without them. Their team was such a blessing for our church. So thank you again for being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Now is a great time to make plans for your church to engage in the NCD healthy church process.  How can the potential that God has placed within your church be released?

What is the influence factor your ministry brings to your community?
30 youth leaders were challenged with that question and more in April, when Nelson led the morning session during a one-day training in Gulfport.  Nelson's topic was 'Being Relevant in Life and Ministry'.  We're grateful for new connections and doors that God is opening.
