This Sunday, April 26: We will meet at the church at 5:15 to go to the Double Tree Hilton hotel to participate in a worship service led by the Taize brothers from France. It's a worship service geared towards young people! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to have the Taize community here and several other youth groups and Lutheran Campus Ministry will be there! The program lasts from 6-8 and we will come back to the church right after. I would suggest eating dinner or a snack before. The event is free for the youth!

April 29 - We will meet at the church from 7-8:15 for dinner, fellowship, and devotions!

May 3 - Senior Youth will be facilitating the Faith 5 time for the congregation! I will have more info on that for the youth soon, but it's very important that they be there for the Sunday school hour that Sunday!!

Also on May 3, we will finally go do paintball at Trigger Tyme! We will leave right after the second service for a quick lunch and then head to Trigger Tyme. Cost $25+lunch. We should be back at the church around 4pm.

GraceWorks

June 7-12

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for works of grace, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.” Ephesians 2:10
Youth from Living Springs will be participating this summer in GraceWorks. GraceWorks is a week-long servant camp for middle and high school Lutheran youth that enables them to deepen their relationships with Jesus, the church, and each other through their partnership with local agencies serving vulnerable children and adults in the Midlands of South Carolina. This will be second year of GraceWorks, and it is expanding in terms of both the number of people we are accompanying and the number of volunteer participants. GraceWorks will have a kick-off on Sunday, June 7, and then will hit the streets that Monday through Friday, June 8-12.
Youth completing grades 6-12 may register directly at:  www.eventbrite.com/e/graceworks-2015-registration-16566629234.  Look for our group - Living Springs Youth.  Cost for the entire week, including lunches, is only $50.
This year’s theme for GraceWorks is, “Created for Works of Grace.” With a firm belief in God’s grace that permeates our lives, we are sent into the world to do the works of God’s kingdom. This will be seen this year as participants accompany a wide variety of our neighbors: veterans, elderly, autistic, deaf, homeless, families breaking the cycle of poverty, those who are thirsty, and more.
GraceWorks is hoping that you will join us in these “works of grace.” First, if you are an adult and can devote at least one full day or half day to join us during our week (June 8-12, M-F), then please contact Pastor Eric or the office no later than May 11. Second, if you have free passes to Riverbanks Zoo, we would appreciate having them for our outing at the end of the week.
Finally and most importantly, we would appreciate your prayers for us. Please pray that God will be at work both in our lives and in the lives of those whom we will accompany. God is doing new and great things in the Midlands of South Carolina through all these youth, and we hope that you will consider joining us in this ministry!

Lessons for Sunday, April 26

First Reading: Acts 4:5–12

Peter and John had been arrested the previous day because they were proclaiming the news of the resurrection to the people. In today's reading, Peter is filled with the Holy Spirit so that he is able to proclaim salvation in Jesus' name to the religious authorities.

Psalm (ELW): Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. (Ps. 23:1)

Second Reading: 1 John 3:16–24

Jesus' death on our behalf is the clearest demonstration of divine love. This is the very love we share with others, not just through our words but especially through our deeds. In sharing such love we fulfill God's commandments.

Gospel: John 10:11–18

In language that recalls the twenty-third psalm, Jesus describes himself as the shepherd who cares for his sheep. He is willing to die for them, and he is able to overcome death for them.
