Montessori Moment

Elementary Years

Montessori elementary classrooms are fundamentally different from traditional elementary school rooms. In fact, they are so different that it can be hard to understand how they work, and why they are so great at helping children thrive.
Here are five differences that enable Montessori elementary students to thrive

Earth Day

Join us for the Sixth Annual Community Earth Day Celebration! Over 20 community partners are joining efforts for a fun-filled day!

Sunday, April 26 * 2pm * MSBG  * FREE  * FUN

In addition to this celebration, a wide variety of events and activities will be taking place all month. Our website works to serve as a one-stop-shop to share information on all these events:
www.communityearthday.com

Art Walk

The community will celebrate spring at the 23rd annual celebration of the arts on Saturday, April 25th.

This free event showcases art from artists of all ages and disciplines including the visual and performing arts and also features art-related activities for children.

MSBG students have a display at H&R Block!
  • 12:00-12:30 MSBG band performance
  • 1:00-2:00 Living Ancient Egypt Museum
  • Mask decorating make-it-take-it craft that will be available all day

Positive Start

Congratulations to our five middle school students who are being recognized by The Exchange Club of Bowling Green for their Positive Start!

Isaac Douglass is a wonderfully positive influence on his classmates. He always shows a willingness to engage in the work at hand and has great empathy for those around him.

Sophi Hachtel is able to use her "think outside the box" skills to help others problem solve and experiment. Her artistry and imagination have been a wonderful contribution to the classroom. She loves to use words to add depth to classroom conversations.

Thomas Long's drive to progress through his personalized math curriculum has taken him to a level that would not seem possible. His motivation to move past more difficult concepts and create his own understanding is a wonderful example to others.

JJ Poiry has made huge strides in "finding his groove." He works diligently on the tasks presented and adds, wonderfully, to explorations and discussions.

Alexa Whyte is a quiet, bright spot in the classroom. She has an intuitive ability to think about concepts from a unique perspective without imposing her viewpoint on others. Her willingness to share her thoughts while respecting different points of view is an invaluable addition to the atmosphere of the classroom.

Library News

Summer Reading

Visit the Library and Get Ready for Summer Reading!

Stop into the MSBG library beginning next week and pick up a summer reading list! By now you've likely begun to think about vacation plans, and signing up the kids for summer camp, but don't forget that summer is also a wonderful opportunity to focus on reading.

Not only is there nothing quite like stretching out on the beach or finding a nice sturdy tree branch and getting lost in a book, but did you know that research suggests that students who read during the summer are less likely to experience "summer slide" when they return to school in the fall?

Beginning next week, until the end of the year, Miss Rachel will have available in the library summer reading lists, as well as other summer reading activities. Be sure to stop in and check them out!

Employment

We currently have openings for Substitute Teachers. Subs are needed in all of the following: before care, after care, classroom teachers, and classroom aides.

For the 2015-16 school year, we are looking for a Spanish Teacher and an Intervention Specialist.

To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to office@montessorischoolbg.org.
