Holy Innocents, San Francisco - A Place Where All Are Welcome

E-Newsletter, April 25, 2015
For those with birthdays this week:

 April 27th ~ Carla Romero

Watch over your children, O God, as their days increase. Bless them and guide them wherever they may be. Strengthen them where they stand. Comfort them when discouraged or lonely. Raise them up when they fall, and in their hearts, may your peace that passes all understanding, abide with them for ever.  In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

And a prayer for all who travel:
O God, in all, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who travel [in particular _______________]; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey's end; through
Jesus Christ our Savior.
Amen.

FAIR OAKS STREET FAIR: SATURDAY, MAY 9

Joyce Basarich is again willing to lead our Rummage Sale! Thank you, Joyce!  She needs DONATIONS (can arrive early, as long as we can find adequate storage space) - children's clothes welcome, but no adult clothes, and VOLUNTEERS to sort and prepare during the preceding week, AND CLEAR UP, starting around 4pm on the day.
We also need BAKED GOODS to sell - to be delivered on the day.
We are also looking for an APPRENTICE, or apprentices for Joyce: she wants to hand over the leadership next year - and we have stuff to learn from her!

HOLY INNOCENTS ON IONA IN 2016!

We are organizing a pilgrimage for the Holy Innocents community to the holy island of Iona, Scotland. Iona is what the Celts call a “Thin Place,” where the boundary between the natural and the sacred is thinned, where one more readily senses the supernatural realm. Jane McDougle has experienced it. So has Dave Olson, and these two will lead the pilgrimage. We will add 2 days to explore Dublin, Ireland, where one can see “the most beautiful book in the world,” The Book of Kells, a 9th century collection of the four Gospels hand copied and decorated in the Abbey on Iona (according to best determination). Dates are May 27 to June 3, 2016. Contact Jane or Dave (dave.olson55@gmail.com) for more information.

To let the larger community of Holy Innocents share in this experience, we plan to gather in a follow-up retreat locally after the pilgrimage, open to all, to share the blessings of Iona.
