"Krabbe Disease: Can it be Effectively Treated?"

Objectives:
1. A better understanding of the underlying pathogenesis of the inherited demyelinating disease Globoid Cell Leukodystrophy (Krabbe disease).
2. A historical perspective of the treatment strategies for Krabbe disease highlighting the successes and failures.
3) A presentation of recently published and new unpublished data on a therapeutic approach that could change the entire therapeutic paradigm for this and other related diseases.

Pediatric Grand Rounds is presented for three purposes, to:
·   Recognize the important interdependence of research and patient care
·   Describe evolving pathogenetic concepts and therapies for pediatric diseases
·   Provide relevant in-depth review of important pediatric topics
