And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.  1 John 3:23

In this Resurrection season we continue to be called to the important work of loving one another.  As is so crisply and wonderfully stated in the seminal study "Ten Paradigm Shifts for Community Transformation"  the church is a place where we are about selfless service not selfish serve us. As we continue our renewal as a parish, our greatest opportunities are for serving our community. The next few days are no exception.

In the next week will have opportunities to serve in two ways; The Peace Meal and The Rummage Sale. Both of these, expressions of our call to hospitality.

The first, the Peace Meal, is this Sunday from 4:30 - 6:30. Helpers are asked to come at 4. In this we show love in the way of hospitality and in the responding to the "When did I see you hungry?" question.

The second, the Rummage Sale, responds to another question, "When did I see you naked?" by providing people with clothing at an affordable price. Your service begins when you donate items. Your service continues as you show-up to help Monday - Friday for set-up and Friday evening and Saturday am to welcome our neighbors and to show hospitality.

I ask you to pray about and respond to these times of service. And, I look forward to our continued work in transforming our community as we live the Resurrection and move toward Pentecost as followers of Jesus.

Blessings and peace,

Steve
