PAEA cited many factors for their decision, including the opportunity for greater collaboration with the AAMC, proximity to other health profession education organizations and Capitol Hill, and the opportunity to design space that fits their need. PAEA is looking forward to growing in their new location and exploring their neighborhood. You can read the story of their move here.

spotlight - jarrah cernas, chicano sol farm

The Mount Vernon Triangle FRESHFARM Farm Stand is sole sourced by Chicano Sol, a certified organic, small, family-owned farm in Blain, PA. Many of you met Jarrah Cernas last year as she worked the market and we recently asked her to share some insights on the farm and what we can expect in this year’s Farm Stand. In her interview, Jarrah talks about the origination of the farm name, its beginnings as a chicken farm and how they avoid using chemicals and fertilizers. largest building move in dc history at douglas development's 650 new york ave. project

Last week, we joined Douglas Development as they began moving two historic structures at 639 New York Avenue, making headlines as the largest building move in DC history. The site will include 15 historic buildings – only two will be moved. The first building moved weighs 800 tons and the second weighs 1,100 tons. The move places the 19th century buildings on a concrete slab, where they will remain and later be integrated into the mixed use project comprised of 350,000 square feet of office and 70,000 square feet of retail space. return of the lancaster farm fresh cooperative

5th Street Ace Hardware will once again be the pickup location for the Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative, with a 26-week summer CSA starting in May. LFFC is a non-profit, organic farmers cooperative based in Lancaster County, PA. They focus on creating healthy, high quality foods from well-maintained and enriched soils on small scale family farms. CSA members commit to support LFFC farmers for the entire growing season by paying for their share of the harvest in the winter and early spring. The farmers are able to purchase supplies in the winter and start their crops in early spring, repaying the shareholders in fresh, organic, seasonal produce. To participate in this season’s CSA, visit the LFFC website at www.lancasterfarmfresh.com and once you select from one of the many options for veggies, fruit, meats, eggs, herbs and baked goods, select the DC: Mount Vernon option for your pickup location.
