Thermal Imaging Open Evening

Wednesday 25 March saw our second thermal imaging open event to feedback individual results to householders and community building managers. The evening was also open to all who were interested in finding out about thermal imaging and several have put their names down for 2016.  After the meeting all participants were emailed a copy of their report together with the household form listing images that were taken on the evening.

Many thanks to Will and Alan for interpreting the results and to Maureen and Jane for the lovely cakes.

All who participated in this years project have been emailed a questionnaire for feedback on their experience and we are pleased we are receiving some very useful and positive comments back. If you participated in this years event and have not yet completed the questionnaire, we would be grateful if you could do so by the 13 May. This will enable us to improve this valuable free service for next years participants. The feedback and comments are anonymous and an overall report, with responses to comments will be duly published.

Spring Community Litter Pick

The first of this years community litter picks will take place this Sunday, 19 April. We meet at White's Field car park and depending on numbers, split into groups to walk and litter pick the more well-walked footpaths and bridleways around Chinnor. We supply all the kit you only need to turn up and bring some gardening gloves.

Love Food Hate Waste

For those who know me, know I love cooking, preserving food and don't like throwing anything away! I am pleased to inform you that I am one of a group of Oxfordshire Love Food Hate Waste Champions.

Love Food Hate Waste Champions aim to raise awareness of the need to reduce food waste and help us take action. We share hints and tips on how to reduce food waste by doing some easy practical everyday things in the home, which will ultimately benefit our purses and the environment too.

I will be speaking at the Chinnor and Thame Friends of the Earth AGM on Thursday 23 April at the Village Centre so if you would like to find out more, please come along. More details on the event section.

Greening Chinnor Public Meeting & AGM

It's that time of year again when we hold our AGM. The meeting will be held on Wednesday 29 April 19:30 at the Village Centre. This is your opportunity to find out what we have been doing within the community and to have a say on what projects we get involved in, in the coming year.

As part of our constitution, officers on the committee must stand down each year although they can be nominated and re-elected to the role if they wish. At present our committee consists of Chair: Alan Brawn, Treasurer: Mike Ashdown, Secretary: Linda Brawn with other committee members, Will Teale, Maureen Dyroff and Jane Macneill.

Going forward Alan, Mike and Linda are standing down from these roles. Alan and Linda wish to stay on the committee and would like to stand for the following roles; Chair - Linda Brawn, Treasurer - Alan Brawn.

If you would like to make a nomination or to volunteer for any of the posts, the Greening Chinnor Officer nomination form can be found by clicking here

The short AGM will be followed by our guest speaker, Andrew Simm, Commercial Manager from Agrivert. Agrivert is the company responsible for turning our kerbside food waste collection into renewable electricity that is fed into the National Grid. This is achieved by a process called anaerobic digestion. In addition to renewable energy, your food waste also produces excellent biofertilizer which is used by local farmers. The talk will be followed by questions and refreshments. Entrance free and all are welcome.
