blah blah blah

Hi all, just a quick announcement about a talk I’m giving, and a discussion I’m helping put together.

Yarrrr!!

On Saturday, April 25, I’ll be talking on a panel about reimagining the city, as part of the 2015 PirateCon in Boston MA. The PirateCon is organized by the Massachusetts Pirate Party, which supports open government, putting people before corporations, defending privacy, and copyright reform. The panel I’m on will be at 11am, but you should check out the entire event. It looks awesome!

how to be an artist and a parent? who knows.

Greg Cook and I are putting together a series of discussions called “how to be an artist and a parent?”. The events are geared towards creative folks (artists/musicians/you-name-it) who have kids, and are trying to figure out how to juggle it all in our crazy expensive town.

Our first event will be at the Malden Public Library at 36 Salem Street on Tuesday, May 12th at 7pm. The details are still in the works for that one.

The second event will be at 2pm on Saturday May 30th at the Somerville Public Library main branch at 79 Highland Ave. Jef Czekaj, Jennifer Johnson, and Trudi Cohen will share how they balance their lives, and then we'll discuss it all as a group. And hopefully find some solutions.

We also put together a website with a list of articles and resources, and a Facebook discussion group. If you’re into that sort of thing. This discussion grew out of the very excellent Getting By In Boston meetings (which I organized with Jason Pramas and Matt Kaliner) and is inspired by Cultural Reproducers in Chicago, and Invisible Spaces of Parenthood in London.
