Greg Cook and I are putting together a series of discussions called “how to be an artist and a parent?”. The events are geared towards creative folks (artists/musicians/you-name-it) who have kids, and are trying to figure out how to juggle it all in our crazy expensive town.

Our first event will be at the Malden Public Library at 36 Salem Street on Tuesday, May 12^th at 7pm. The details are still in the works for that one.

The second event will be at 2pm on Saturday May 30^th at the Somerville Public Library main branch at 79 Highland Ave. Jef Czekaj, Jennifer Johnson, and Trudi Cohen will share how they balance their lives, and then we'll discuss it all as a group. And hopefully find some solutions.

We also put together a website with a list of articles and resources, and a Facebook discussion group. If you’re into that sort of thing. This discussion grew out of the very excellent Getting By In Boston meetings (which I organized with Jason Pramas and Matt Kaliner) and is inspired by Cultural Reproducers in Chicago, and Invisible Spaces of Parenthood in London.
