Coalition - Which Options Do The Political Party Voters Prefer?

Released last night, Survation have polled the views of 1,826 people, over the last 2 weeks.

Voter first told Survation for which party they would vote, (data excludes undecided voters & non voters) and were then were asked the following questions separately.

Method:

Responders were presented with a range of more likely Coalition options, which were ranked by the responder in a forced choice. The data below shows how each group ranked the options -below we show those indicating “1” - their preferred option"

Labour Voters

Base: 634 Labour Voters – Labour Voter Top Ranked Choices – Their First Preference

If, following the election on May 7th, Labour are the largest party but do not have enough seats to form a majority, rank these outcomes in order of your preference.

Labour leads a minority government – 49%
Labour enters a coalition with the Liberal Democrats – 30%
Labour enters a coalition with the SNP – 21%

Conservative Voters

Base: 647 Conservative Voters – Conservative Voter Top Ranked Choices – Their First Preference

If, following the election on May 7th, the Conservatives are the largest party but do not have enough seats to form a majority, rank these outcomes in order of your preference. Base: 647 Conservative Voters

The Conservatives lead a minority government 42%
The Conservatives enter a coalition with the Liberal Democrats 41%
The Conservatives enter a coalition with UKIP 17%

Base: 131 Lib Dem Voters – Lib Dem Voter Top Ranked Choices – Their First Preference

If, following the election on May 7th, both the Conservative and Labour parties were looking to form a coalition with the Liberal Democrats, rank these outcomes in order of your preference.

The Liberal Democrats form a coalition with the Conservatives 42%
The Liberal Democrats form a coalition with Labour  39%
The Liberal Democrats do not form a coalition 20%

If, following the election on May 7th, the possibility of a coalition between the SNP and Labour arose, which of the following outcomes would you prefer?

The SNP forms a coalition with Labour 72%
The SNP does not form a coalition with Labour 28%

If, following the election on May 7th, the possibility of a coalition between UKIP and the Conservatives arose, which of the following outcomes would you prefer?

UKIP forms a coalition with the Conservatives 65%
UKIP does not form a coalition with the Conservatives 35%
