Welcome to our Spring newsletter!  Some of what we've been up to:
  • Our extended community helped Suzie to build a fantastic urban permaculture garden for the RTE show SuperGarden.  Sorry we can't post pictures yet, but there's more info below on when you can see it on TV.
  • Carraig Dulra is the lead organisation in a new Wicklow sustainability network, which is running its first Leadership for Sustainability course starting next month - more info below.
  • Suzie's teaching two community garden courses which you can still join
  • Our summer PDC course is proving to be extremely popular with bookings in from several continents
  • Our new season of WWOOFer farm volunteers are here and helping get the garden ready and seeds planted

Leadership for Sustainability


An innovative course programme for emerging leaders in Sustainable Living
 
Provisional dates: 23-24 May, 22-23 Aug, 26 Sep, 17-18th Oct, 7 Nov, 28-29 Nov

Learn to support others on their journey to sustainable living.  The three major areas of this course are:
  • Sustainable living skills
  • Collaborative systems
  • Leadership training and facilitation skills
 
Cost: €100 + possible contribution towards other costs*

*Most of the costs of this course are covered by a grant from The Wheel’s Training Links Programme.  Participants may need to contribute towards the shortfall for some items, for example overnight accommodation.  We will keep all other costs to a minimum and discuss them with participants.

If you've been watching Suzie's facebook, you'll know he was selected to be one of the garden designers on RTE's SuperGarden.
 
The show starts tonight (21st April) and the episode featuring Suzie will be aired on 5th May.

Community Garden Vegetable Courses

Free courses (taught by Suzie) continue in both Greystones and Laragh for the next few weeks. 

Drop in to:
Greystones Family Resource Centre, Burnaby Lawns between at 10:30am on Thursdays

The Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh on Fridays at 10:00am.

Customised Courses

Did you know that we run customised courses for homeschool/hedge school groups, families, groups of friends, transition-year students, businesses and other organisations?  They're practical, fun & usually very hands-on. 

Courses are run either at Carraig Dulra farm in Co Wicklow, or at your own venue.

Past courses include:
  • Food growing / gardening
  • Natural Building, including cob
  • Permaculture: Growing with Nature. 
  • Natural Beekeeping
  • Bushcraft
  • Team building day
  • Family gardening
  • Green woodworking
  • Introduction to sustainable agriculture
  • Junior Naturalist (for kids with a parent/grantparent/guardian)
  • Youth Group nature immersion day
