EXHIBITION FOR YOUTH: INTERCONNECTION OR STRING THEORY
Marie Laine, aka Marilène Gaudet, plays with opposites and explores what connects us to each other, to nature. As a symbolic process, knitting ties together fine arts and crafts, but what about the spaces in between the stiches? Her in situ installations incorporate cosies of everyday objects with organic, fluid shapes inspired by the location of Stewart Hall. Intended as interruptions, in the physical space and in time, they offer a pause, a recess from the frenzy of modern life.

HEAVY AS A FEATHER: Jannick Deslauriers - Cal Lane - Clint Neufeld - Kritiina Lahde
Picnic Vernissage: Sunday,July 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
By destabilizing the materiality of traditionally functional objects, the artists in Heavy as a Feather emphasize their form and uncover a renewed beauty. Through these sculptures shaped by contradiction, the object loses its function yet gains a new delicacy.  Fabric, metal, porcelain and paper come together in the artworks of Jannick Deslauriers, Cal Lane, Clint Neufeld and Kristiina Lahde. Using unconventional materials such as car hoods and telephone books, these four artists allow the viewer to experience a repertoire of outstanding artworks playing on various oppositions; fragile, robust, feminine, masculine, heavy or light.
