Happy Interdependence of Places (Earth) Day!

Who will be your champion?

The 2015 Green Champion will be honored at the Party for the Planet on Earth Day (today) at High Mountain Pies, 5-7pm.  Enjoy live music with Groovespeak, free appetizers, refreshments and good company.

Thank you for nominating your fellow Leadvillians for all sorts of great things: leading waste diversion campaigns, banning styrofoam, making their homes twice as efficient, recycling scrap metal, saving lives (yes, saving lives), and putting clean energy back into the grid.  Champions receive monetary support for their causes and our love and admiration.

Compost? Banning Styrofoam?

Lake County kids are leading the way in environmental sustainability. High School DOOR Program students and 3rd grade styrofoam stoppers have teamed up to conduct waste audits in three schools and bring a series of recommendations to their schools, the School Board, and the County Commissioners. Not only are these students getting their hands dirty, they are succeeding in raising funds for their cause. See their digital stories and how they found funding.

Drop Sites

We have good news and bad news... The good news is that Lake County Drop Sites will now include a pre-paid trash drop in addition to recycling collection. The bad news is that due to permitting set-backs, the project has been delayed and will not be available to the public until August 1.  Additionally, after public input, the location of the Leadville Drop Site (formerly at Harrison Ave and 14th) has been changed. For full information visit our website.

It's On

We cut the ribbon and our community's new 500 kW solar array was commissioned and putting clean power into the grid on Tuesday, April 21st, 2015!  Thank you Lake County, Parkville Water and all of our other Lake County subscribers for doubling our local clean energy production. Spread the word, we now have available kWs for both residential and commercial subscribers.  Email the Clean Energy Collective for a quote.

We are a non-profit organization based in Leadville and Lake County, Colorado.  Our mission is to create community infrastructure that sustains and supports the natural environment.
