Getting down to business

The Write Path made its public debut last month! I have been overwhelmed by incredible levels of support and feedback, which (just quietly) is lovely for my ego.

This business venture of mine came about from the niggling sense that I needed to specialise. I was tired of striving to be a Jill of all trades and only getting time to dabble in things briefly before the rules changed.

Simply put, writing and editing is what I enjoy doing, and it is what I am good at, so it eventually became clear that this was my area of specialisation. And so The Write Path was born.

My hope is that these updates provide a little insight into my philosophy for The Write Path, which is to offer quality services, to bring balance to my work and life, to help clarify content, and to keep things simple (drama is so overrated!).

I hope you enjoy my words.

Remember, annual report season is coming. The earlier you can prep and plan, and engage a team to pull all the details together, the better the end result.
Get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Did you know that every sentence needs a verb*? Verbs add life to each sentence. Try making verbs stronger to be more creative. So don't just run, sprint or bolt instead!
*of course, rules are made to be broken

Red pen editing text
Does anyone else struggle having their work attacked with a red pen?

I used to squirm when I would see my work scribbled on and questioned. It really didn't fit well with my perfectionism.

But I have overcome this paranoia.

Find out how in my latest blog.

Recently I studied for my Certificate in Professional Editing and Proofreading at Open Colleges.

Now I wouldn't really call it studying because I enjoyed it so much! The quality of the content, flexibility to do the readings and assessments, and the input from my tutor, was all fantastic.

I'll feature some tips in each newsletter for the grammar and punctuation nerds out there.

I was chuffed with my commercial photo shoot, taken by my photographer mate, Rebecca Howe.

Bec finds that lovely balance between taking control of the shoot and also keeping it chilled.

When I eventually stopped talking and giggling, she managed to take some great shots (if I do say so myself).

Check out her blog.

She won the 2015 award for Best New Business and also a highly commended for Business Woman of the Year at the Illawarra Women in Business Awards. Dare to dream!
