FRIDAY 22nd MAY 8pm KatuÅ¡ & Yankuba Conteh (Gambia). House Concert at Skinner St Rooms,  Whitby.  £10 to include food  - proceeds to Yankuba's music school in Gambia. This an Arts Council supported tour.
 
SATURDAY 6th JUNE 7.30 KATHAKALI THEATRE COMPANY 
at WHITBY PAVILION THEATRE

Visually stunning  Kathakali originated in the 17th century in temples. It embraces dance, drama, music, visual arts and ritual to create a powerful and emotional form of visual storytelling. Wonderful night in prospect from superb company who will have performed at Musicport Festival previously and will be appearing at WOMAD this summer.

TERRY HALL from The Specials confirmed to do a main stage DJ set  at this year's festival on Friday 16th October


and TROMBORANGA the brilliant salsa orchestra from Barcelona will be performing on Sunday 18th ( time to sign up to your dance class now)

We are also delighted to be  hosting The Yorkshire Gig Guide Grassroots Awards
on Friday of the Festival on North Sea Stage featuring the best of Yorkshire acts alongside some Musicport guests.

Due to some nefarious activity by a so-called agent in South Africa
the Soweto Gospel Choir will not be appearing. A whole series of concerts by them in the autumn have had to be rescheduled but they can't  make the Whitby dates in 2015 unfortunately . We have alternative plans under negotiation..
Starting the year with 4 sold-out gigs featuring Norma Waterson, Eliza Carthy Martin Carthy etc, The Bevvy Sisters & Chris Wood was not a bad start...
