USA FREEDOM Act and the surveillance debate is the primary topic of the week.
Interesting news out of Argentina on Bitcoin, too.
And be sure to check out Wired's cover story on Tracy Chou, who is quietly driving forward the debate on women in tech.
Thanks for reading!

The Judiciary Comittee approved the USA FREEDOM Act to go to the House floor. This matters because the House Intelligence Committee also claims jurisdiction over the PATRIOT Act reauthorization, and leadership doesn't seem to have publicly taken sides between the two committees. The bill came within two votes in the Senate last year of passing both Houses of Congress, and the hope is that expiring provisions of the PATRIOT Act give reformers more leverage this time around.

Argentina has been struggling two-fold recently, both economically and that its political leadership has used junk numbers to try and pretend the economic troubles aren't real. Apparently, one result of this is that Argentinians are turning to Bitcoin in droves for their currency needs as a hedge against the Argentinian economy.

As drones become ubiquitous, new policies will have to be developed, especially against actively malicious behavior. However, the current regulatory tone seems to be a Naderite "Unsafe at any speed," so as an industry and community, drone enthusiasts have to deal with bad actors as much as they have to fight off dumb or bad regulations.
