Springtime in chocolateland is always nice. Flowers, warmth, that exhaled breath. The wild violets in my yard are popping up, all this week we’re candying them for our violet caramels (they’ll be back on our website soon, after a few more flowers grow). We’re selling foraged ramps in the shop for the next couple weeks, and are starting to make ice cream. And we’re making Mother’s Day chocolates. This year we’re crushing like crazy on these peanut butter bonbons—an entire box of chocolates created for the peanut lover in your life. Peanut Butter Cups in a special heart shape, Peanut Butter and Jelly Bonbons with muscat grape pâté de fruit, little firecrackers of spicy Thai peanut sauce caramels (!), and White Chocolate Peanut Butter Truffles, made to celebrate the mothers and special others in your life. 

Mother’s Day is coming up fast, so be sure to place your order by Tuesday, or select Express Shipping if ordering later to ensure your order arrives to your mother on time. 

Also, please note that with warmer temperatures comes ice packs for shipping chocolates! Beginning May 1 one cold pack is automatically added to each order. If you live in a very hot climate you may choose to add another, too. Did you know? We ship using reused as well as recycled packaging—so if you see some non-ecofriendly packaging in your chocolate box it’s because we’re keeping it out of the landfill!

We've been collecting and candying backyard violets for future chocolate projects. Here's my easy method: lay your violets upside down on a sheet tray, spray them with a solution of cornstarch and water, sprinkle with superfine sugar made by whizzing sugar in the food processor, and let sit for a few days until dry. The upsidedownness is my secret trick! It makes a cleaner, more flowery preserved flower.

 

Our April Chocolate of the Month, the Peanut Butter Caramel Nougat Bar, was so popular that we’re welcoming it into our family of chocolate bars on a more permanent basis. 

Our Pagan Bark just gets prettier and prettier, with candied mint and citrus and lavender and everything nice in the world.

We’ve put a little pet project of ours on the website—a hand-drawn guide to our most popular chocolates, suitable for framing on your wall.
