Tricky decisions:
Picking our "most eco" products
PART I

We gave our staff the challenge to pick their favourite "most eco” products in the store. Given the standards we have for all our stock, this was not an easy selection to make!

Here is Part I of their results, and a quick reminder of why these may be some of the most environmentally awesome products we have.

Laura's picks:

  MOVEMENT      INDIGENOUS     KORU    THIEVES' OIL

Movement Global is a Canadian made clothing line, so that means less transport emissions. They use environmentally responsible production processes and eco friendly fabrics: clothing is made from sustainable, low impact crops like bamboo and organic cotton which are "processed with little or no environmental damage"

Indigenous Designs is a fair trade clothing line out of Peru supporting hundreds of the poorest artisans who make each garment by hand using earth friendly fabrics and low impact dyes: only organic cotton is used, and fibre from freely roaming Alpaca is available in many natural shades.

Koru is a company selling non-toxic, environmentally responsible kitchen and household goods from many manufacturers... from Sling Sisters re-useable snack bags, Bambu utensils, S'well water bottles, and saran alternatives to natural incense.

Thieves oil is an incredible essential oil blend that can be used for cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing naturally..just think about all those toxic chemical cleaners and artificial fragrances out there that could be eliminated!

Deb's picks:

ONYX                                      ONEKA

Onyx Containers - These stainless steel containers are the best way to avoid plastic containers and packaging. They're high quality, non-toxic, leakproof, and durable.

Oneka - Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and shower gel made in Canada in small batches using their own organically grown herbs. Designed to be therapeutic and hypoallergenic, and so eco-friendly they start biodegrading less than 48 hours after use.

Jaliya's picks:

    ABAKA                           THE HEMPEST

Abaka Clothing is all still made in Canada and hand made. Great affordable basics for both women and men.

The Hempest is a line of hemp-based natural body products made locally with skin/allergy sensitive materials that are natural and/or organic.
