On this day: May 1945

The war draws to a close with Germany forces surrendering first to Soviet forces in Berlin then unconditionally in the West and the East. The Allies continue to encounter Nazi camps as they advance across Europe. Meanwhile, Otto Frank, the only survivor of the Secret Annex, gathers enough strength to begin the journey back to Amsterdam.

Act3 Productions presents John and Jen

May 15 and 16 at 8pm
May 17 at 3pm

Proceeds will be donated to the Anne Frank in the World exhibit in honor of the late Eva Galambos.

Act3 Productions will present John and Jen, an intimate musical about family connections, commitments, and healing of the heart, May 15 through 17. The musical, with lyrics by Tom Greenwald, music by Andrew Lippa, and book by Andrew Lippa and Tom Greenwald, debuted on Broadway in 1995 and was revived off-Broadway in 2015. The production is part of Act3’s Second Stages Series, sponsored by The Sandy Springs Society. Click here for more information.

Anne Frank House launches new exhibit "Fritz Pfeffer - Anne's roommate"

The temporary exhibition ‘Fritz Pfeffer – Anne’s roommate’ in the Anne Frank House looks at the real ‘Mr. Dussel’, the oldest of the eight people in hiding in the Secret Annexe. Although the diaries mention him often, Anne rarely writes anything nice about him. Here, photographs, interviews and personal papers provide a portrait of Fritz Pfeffer, his life before the war, and his fate.Click here to read more.

Eva Galambos, first mayor of Sandy Springs, passes away at 87

Eva Galambos was the first mayor of Sandy Springs. She was elected in early November 2005 and served until November 2013. Eva was instrumental in bringing the exhibit Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945 to Sandy Springs and championed the mission of the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust for many years.
