May 2015

Greetings, friends!

Whew! What a wonderful whirlwind April was at MEarth. We were so grateful to see so many friends and supporters who came out to join in the fun!

Because of all of YOU, our 3rd Annual MEarth Day FUNdraiser on April 25th was a tremendous success! Despite a little smattering of (much needed) morning rain, we had over 950 shiny-happy-people on the property between our fabulous Sponsors, Exhibitors, Chefs, Musicians, Volunteers and Attendees!

So many people left feeling educated and inspired to make *everyday* Earth Day! Check out #MEarthDay2015 on social media for some fun pics from the day.... We are already looking forward to next year!

Not sure what has been happening lately, but somehow the word has gotten out about MEarth! I have been happily running all over the community for interviews, collaborations, speaking engagements and more! Just in the past month, MEarth has been featured in segments on KSBW and KION local TV news, KRML radio and I have spoken at the PG Rotary Club, the Steinbeck Center, the Monterey County Hospitality Association, the Monterey Museum of Art's 'Art In Bloom' event and hosted a tour with 50 educators from all across the state with the California Farm to School Conference!

We even provided beautiful floral table decor for an inspirational 'California Thursday' dinner hosted by the Center for Ecoliteracy, The Community Alliance of Family Farmers and the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District Nutrition Services Program!

Some of our flowers even ended up on MEarth-ling's heads! Here Rose, Darrell, Cassie and yours truly have a little fun with #flowersonyourhead, a playful initiative developed by prolific Instagrammer and school garden rockstar, Mud Baron

Meanwhile, the end-of-the-school-year bustle continues with programming galore in our garden and kitchens.... In May alone, we will host NINETY hands-on classes for students from across the County in our FoodConnect, ClassroomConnect and NatureConnect programs!!! Our MEarth Summer Day Camp slots are filling up quickly and seats for our next two Sustainable Chef Dinners, with superstar local chefs, are disappearing fast... (click on the links to the right to secure your spots TODAY)!

Keep smiling!
We'll see you around the property soon!

Warm regards,

Tanja Roos, MNA
Executive Director, MEarth

INSPIRATION

"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one's self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung in exhalation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived - this is to have succeeded"
