IT'S NOT OVER YET

With the conclusion of the World Championships at the end of April, the 2015 FIRST season is drawing to a close, and some might think that's it for the AdamBots this year. Taking a closer look, it becomes apparent that we're as busy as ever: preparing for upcoming off-season events like MARC and IRI, holding robot demonstrations at local middle schools and high schools, and raising money for the annual Relay for Life. Before we get ahead of ourselves, perhaps a little overview of what we've been up to is in order.

SEASON UPDATE

Our hard work at Howell and Traverse City paid off! We were invited to the 2015 Michigan State Championship along with 101 other teams in the state . The event was held in Grand Rapids at the Deltaplex Arena on April 8th through the 11th.

Teams 3618 and 3452 were our partners in the 16th Alliance, and we ended our first round of matches with an average of 170. However, competition was tough, and we did not advance to the quarterfinals.

At the end of the Michigan State Championships, it was announced that we had qualified to attend the World Championships in St. Louis on April 22nd through the 25th! So, on April 21st, we drove ourselves down to St. Louis, Missouri to compete in the Galileo division.

Scores varied widely, and we were honored to have scored both the lowest and highest scores in the division. While there, we explored the city, and met teams from all over the world; this will be an extremely memorable experience for all who attended. We were selected by the 7th alliance for the quarter-finals, but we did not proceed on to the semi-finals.

And so concludes our 2015 FIRST season! We are so excited to continue to offer extraordinary opportunities to our students each year, and are gracious for your continued support in our efforts. We hope to see you all next year!

OFF-SEASON EVENTS

On May 2nd, the AdamBots, along with Stoney Creek's CyberCats and Rochester's FEDs, went over to Rochester High School's STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Career Exposition to demonstrate their robots to the viewing public. The FIRST teams in attendance were glad to be able to spread awareness for STEAM and FIRST.

The AdamBots participate in a wide variety of events such as these throughout the year. To keep up to date, and find out where and when we may be putting on a demonstration next, be sure to check our Facebook or Twitter page.

Two events the AdamBots participate in are the Michigan Advanced Robotics Competition (MARC) and the Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI). These events are like FIRST competitions, only they aren't part of the FIRST season. They allow us to try out potential drive team members, and help to bring the season to an end, only to start the next one in a few months!
