Water, Water

May 6 Monthly Meeting
GWC's monthly meeting will be Wed. May 6 at Northgate Mall Community room. Everyone is welcome to come and join in the conversation. We will be following up on all the various activities and issues affecting the watershed this year. All life depends on water. Come help us protect and preserve this precious resource.

Meeting of Novato Watershed Group
Know anyone in Novato? Please pass this on to them! This will be a very interesting meeting for all watershed advocates.
Novato Watershed Program community meeting
Thursday, May 14, 2015
7:00 PM -8:30 PM
Marin Humane Society Auditorium
171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato

This will be the first of three meetings planned through early 2016 to share the Novato Watershed Program draft flood protection alternatives. Special guests include scientists from the San Francisco Estuary Institute who will provide an intriguing presentation on the historical ecology of lower Novato Creek and surrounding baylands.
The Novato Watershed Program is a collaborative effort with the County of Marin, City of Novato, Novato Sanitary District and North Marin Water District. It merges flood protection, pollution prevention and water conservation needs with habitat restoration and sea level rise adaptation. Working at this watershed scale, we consider all contributing drainage areas as a whole rather than separate parts in isolation because flooding knows no jurisdictional boundaries.

Grant for Dixie School & Miller Creek
Congratulations to Ray and Judy who received a grant from the Marin Fish and Wildlife Commission that will go to support the Dixie Outdoor Classroom and Miller Creek restoration near the school. We are most appreciative of the F&W Commission for reaching out to GWC and for funding this grant.
