Montessori Moment

Involved in Community

The Montessori School strives to contribute to the larger community in a variety of ways. Here are some events this past weekend in which we were of service:

Library: A parent sent us this, "On Saturday, April 25, 2015, several MSBG students participated in the library's architecture class. The children built a house from pieces of cardboard, tongue depressors, crepe paper, tape, and glue. Their creativity was astounding!  The MSBG cohort worked together well, worked for 2 hours, each contributed different ideas.
The kids are Anthony and Lillian Tam, Robbie Zhang, Julian Gomezdelcampo, and Seba Celli from MSBG.
Robbie made furniture, Julian and Anthony made the walls and roof rafters. All decorated inside and outside the house.
They were a joy and inspiration to to watch!" CLICK HERE for pictures.

Art Walk: Hundreds of people checked out fantastic art work hand crafted by our talented Montessori BG students! There were also special performances by the MSBG band and the live Egyptian Museum! CLICK HERE for pictures.

Earth Day: MSBG hosted the countywide Community Earth Day celebration. On a sunny afternoon, hundreds were on the MSBG grounds completing Earth Day passports by learning many new facts and doing many environmental education projects. CLICK HERE for pictures.

Summer Reading

Visit the Library and Get Ready for Summer Reading!

Stop into the MSBG library beginning next week and pick up a summer reading list! By now you've likely begun to think about vacation plans, and signing up the kids for summer camp, but don't forget that summer is also a wonderful opportunity to focus on reading.

Not only is there nothing quite like stretching out on the beach or finding a nice sturdy tree branch and getting lost in a book, but did you know that research suggests that students who read during the summer are less likely to experience "summer slide" when they return to school in the fall?

Beginning next week, until the end of the year, Miss Rachel will have available in the library summer reading lists, as well as other summer reading activities. Be sure to stop in and check them out!

Employment

We currently have openings for Substitute Teachers. Subs are needed in all of the following: before care, after care, classroom teachers, and classroom aides.
